MIAMI -- Drew Brees was in South Florida on Monday, though, to the chagrin of Dolphins fans, he wasn't representing the home team.

Appearing at a program to promote financial literacy for Miami Beach High students, Brees said there's "no doubt that I made right decision" in signing with the Saints over the Dolphins last offseason.

"I think the Dolphins have a great organization, they have a great owner, and they are one of the more legendary organizations in the history of the NFL," said Brees, who led the league with 4,418 passing yards and led the Saints to the NFC Championship game. "But the fact is, everything happens for a reason, and I ended up where I needed to go."

Nothing new there. Admits that Saban basically told him that if the medical guys clear him, he's our guy. Gives more support to Saban's own statements on the same thing that the medical people just...would...not...sign off.

This is a true statement. That City needed him and Reggie bush and Coleston more then we needed Brees. he has added happines to that city.

I just wonder if those "medical people" aren't secretly Jets or Bills fans??

Though it's been said many times over, I'll reiterate due to the lingering animosity over the deal:

The Dolphins just couldn't sign off on a guy who was coming off an incredibly severe injury to his throwing arm. Brees has a rotator cuff literally being held together with pins at this point, and the doctors just couldn't clear him to be a Dolphin with an injury that severe. No hard feelings, water under the bridge, nothing to get upset with now after the fact. Just understand that the decision at the time was the smart one, and that we should all be glad that it worked out for Brees.

What decision did Brees make? I thought the Dolphins made the decision for him?

It's been an underreported story that the Dolphins actually helped Brees out by delaying the news that we signed Culpepper over Brees so that Brees would still get what he was asking for. Like I said, there were no hard feelings in the entire process, and that we really wanted Brees but just couldn't get the medical clearance. If the story is true, then of course it was his decision to go to the Saints ;) They're getting their money's worth in the end, so no big deal.

:deadhorse who cares if this story died several months ago, lets keep beating it

Nice post. People forget that decisions are never made with hindisight available. Moreover, you can't evaluate hypotheticals with any great predictability.

Before I get crucified by the Daunte haters, let me make it clear that I have been very impressed with Brees, as a Saint and a Charger. However, as noted above, the injury to the throwing arm was a big and bright red flag. When your medical staff doesn't sign off, $10 million (or whatever the Saints gave him) is too much to risk.

There are countless examples of decisions/actions taken that were the right one's to take at the time but the results were not what was desired. This doesn't suddenly make the decision a poor one. In addition, there are decisions such as the one to not pursue Arrington, which don't get a lot of discussion but are just as important.

32 teams passed on Tom Brady in the first 5 rounds of the draft. The fact that 32 teams did not take Tom Brady in the first round does not mean that they should all be criticised for making a bad decision.

Well Mr. Breeze regardless of who picked you. Your still watching the superbowl from the sideline just like the Dolphins, so before you get on your "im the next Joe Montanna" Binge please check yourself..

Granted you played well this year but you had some luck as well..

I agree with what he said as well, but for some reason im bitter...

Come on Daunte prove us all wrong..............

He's coming up on 790 in a few minutes to talk about the whole miami situation.

I wonder if their medical staff "got lucky", or if they are just that much better than our medical staff?
