If the Dolphins are to improve on their four-game winning streak, they may have to do so without running back Ronnie Brown, who left in the third quarter of Thursday's 27-10 victory over the Detroit Lions with an injury to his left hand.

Brown said he believed he fractured the first metacarpal (one of the bones between the wrist and fingers) and likely will need surgery today to stabilize it.

The Dolphins will know more about the extent of Brown's injury after he is evaluated today. But Brown's hand was severely swollen after the game. He was disappointed that a promising game (68 yards on 15 carries) was ruined but was encouraged by the performance of back-up Sammy Morris.

I heard on the game it was a sprain. But, DAMN if it IS broken..
 
Brown could still play with a broken hand...it is his left hand. Put it in a cast and get out there.
 
We need Ronnie, ****! that makes me so mad. Even though Sammy had a nice a run i don't think he's going to be able to carry the load.

cant we just place a strip of velcro across Ronnies chest where Joey can just stick the football to it? Who needs hands?

Sorry to hear if this is true, Im sure we can find a way to make it without him if we needto. This team isn't built around Ronnie so it should hurt us to lose him like it did when we lost Ricky.

I hope he gets well very soon.
 
I wouldn't as nervous, but of all these things Miami's next opponent is the Jags. Now, Miami is going to have to play a really good Defense like the Jags without Jax, and the Jax stuffed Tiki. This sucks.
