MERGED: Cam Wake gets paid

Congratulations to Cameron Wake, Jeff Ireland, and the entire Miami Dolphins organization for getting this deal done.

We are on the rise fellow Dolfans!
 
So this is what it feels like to agree with our teams moves... been a long time almost forgot the feeling lol.

1. Realistically address the QB position.
2. Extend Cam Wake.
All the other offseason moves now are just icing for me.

It's still a lot of money compared to what the average person makes, but even a very average MLB pitcher makes about the same as some of the top guys in the NFL, and it is all guaranteed.

Have you considered the size of the roster on an NBA or MLB team? In football there are 53 guys on the roster. You know how many more coaches are needed for an NFL team? Trainers? Medical Staff? The costs to run the NFL, I would guess, are much higher of the other sports. There are just so many more players which means everything else increases down to the person paid to wash the jerseys each night.

And nobody had to be released? There was a lot of speculation about our cap number being the reason. I guess that wasn't the case?

WOW.....now Ireland is getting love from Fins fans!!!! It wasnt too long ago that people wanted to crucify him! Good (and long overdue) signing! Hope we get Big Jake done soon also.
 
Great news! We really didn't get raped. That is a fair deal for both sides.
 
Ireland has done a decent job so far. Signing Wake was very important. If Philbin is happy, then I am happy. I do not have to work for the dick wad(Ireland)

That is because he has done a decent job since the fan out rage. But I'm not going to let him off the hook entirely because of an apparently good draft and signing one guy to a contract extension. Until we start winning on a regular basis under his GM ability (as opposed to Parcells looking over his shoulder) I still think we need a new GM.

He still needs to get a WR and RG. Also phins Safeties have proven they can cover yet.

Is there another Barron coming out next year from the alabama Secondary?
 
Palm Beach post has a good breakdown of how his contract compares. Looks like Ireland did a good job, fair contract.

You can't solve everything overnight and who knows, we may have that safety already on the team. Jimmy Wilson is a guy I could see stepping up and really thriving at FS, although I still think Richard Marshall is in play as well. Barron is a SS, why not see if Reshad can take that spot over. He's a tackle machine and has the cover skills to be a solid SS.

We have a ****load of candidates for the guard spots. When we resigned Murtha I think he was immediately in play for LG (or RT if we did not draft Martin) . . . and that group of Incog/Hicks/Jerry/Garner are all in play for RG. I think the OLine is fine for 2012.

It is what it is at WR . . . it is the weakest area on the team, but with guys like Bush, Egnew, Thomas, Clay, Fasano . . . those are 5 guys who can catch the ball, to go along with Hartline, Bess, with a hopefully improving speed threat in Gates and a few of the youngsters step up.

It's a work in progress, but I like what Jeff has done this offseason . . . and personally, even though it probably cost us Floyd or Kuechley, I think Tannehill was a MUCH better fit than Flynn and obviously had the higher ceiling . . .its about time we put the QB position as a priority and not try to get "value" out of it.
