MERGED: Cam Wake gets paid

Do you guys think we will cut or restructre Dansby next season IF he doesn't play like the playmaker he was

Id be all for drafting Teo next season. As I can see Roadrunner is a fanboy

I hope he does restructre, and i hope he has a good year too.
But im all in for my big man Te'o.............

Outside of seeing the Avengers, this is best news I've had all week.

With how it looks now the D is set for the next 2 years. Great job Jeff

When you see how little these NFL guys make compared to NBA and MLB players it is a crime. The NFL gets a ton of money and the players don't seem to really get their fair share. It's still a lot of money compared to what the average person makes, but even a very average MLB pitcher makes about the same as some of the top guys in the NFL, and it is all guaranteed.

Glad Wake is here for a while.

I will be interested to see the breakdown for all 4 years to see if this is realistically a 3 year deal or a 4 year deal. Paying a 34 year old DE $12.25 million is not usually a wise investment. If the final year of the contract calls for a salary of $15 million or more I think Ireland did a good job.

Thank you Miami Dolphins and Jeff ireland.

Out of everybody, Cam Wake needed to get paid . . . he is by far our best defender and if the cap hit on Dansby wasn't so high, I would of cut him just to resign Wake. That is how vital he is to this defense.

Very solid deal for both sides, Wake is a complete DE and the motor is always on . . . him and Vernon, we need a nickname for this mohawk DE duo.

IMO Dansby is a casualty next season.

I think the way his contract is set up, if we cut him this year he doesn't save much against the cap.

Next year is when it will be more cap friendly to cut him.

Dansby's cap hit this season is $12,800,000
next season it drops to a "mere" $10,000,050
and his final season it shoots up to $13,000,050

I guess it all depends on how he plays in our new defense
What I do know is Tampa Bay had a rookie linebacker
with almost the exact same stats who was making $600k

What is even more telling is Dansby's base salary from last season was $2,700,000
this season it's $8,800,000

Not sure how much longer Dansby will remain a Dolphin

Dansby wont be getting cut . . . he'll either get traded or more likely we will ride the contract out.

He's a good player, but Wake is more important.
