MERGED: Cam Wake gets paid

It would take some camp cuts to sign Long. He wants a bigger pay raise then his first contract. I would not sign him for more then 5 years. He probably wants 14M per year. 5 year 65M with 30M Guaranteed is fair. He may want more.

Has Jake actually stated what he would want. I keep reading this on here but have yet to hear Jake or his agent throw out any demands.

i like it.. also shows the other guys esp rookies, if u play hard and b a game changer u will get paid.

Jake will probably never state publically what he wants. At this point we can only rely on what the media tells us or suggests.

For instance.

- Long’s camp isn’t interested in taking a pay cut, and to get a deal done he’d likely need a contract in the neighborhood of the one Joe Thomas got from Cleveland last season. The Browns gave Thomas a seven-year, $87 million deal that guaranteed Thomas $44 million. He’s slated to earn $42 million in the first three seasons.

- If you don’t think Long’s agent isn’t using that contract as the framework of a deal for Long you clearly don’t know how the business side of the NFL works. Ireland prefers to give shorter contracts. Most of his deals are three-years, which prevents dead money from accumulating. But for a player of Long’s caliber he’d probably allow a five-year deal. But a seven-year deal is unrealistic.
Do we know for sure that Long's camp is not interested in taking a pay cut or is this just one man's assumption?

I'm wondering who or if someone restructured or extended their contract for this deal to get done?

Ireland is so bad, i mean its like its like I know more than him. Good thing people like me post because this place would be so boring without stupid *******s like myself.

It could depend on how the deal is structered. Wake didnt get a entirely new contract, he got an extension. Could be a modest pay bump for the first year then really take off next season when we have more money(something like $50 mil cap room).

Good deal for both sides, great news. Good job Ireland for squeezing it through.

finally feels like we have a plan for this team. This is great news,WAKE is a beast
