CAPERS HASN'T SIGNED HIS EXTENSION
A league source tells us that Fins defensive coordinator Dom Capers has yet to sign the contract extension that recently was negotiated.
Per the source, Capers is dragging his feet on the three-year, $8 million package because he wants to see what else might be out there before committing himself. The Giants, for example, are looking for a defensive coordinator. And other spots might come open as more shuffling occurs.
With all that said, who's gonna offer Capers $2.7 million a year for a position other than head coach? Sorry, Dom, but we respectfully suggest moving some of the black ink from the squirrel perched atop your skull to the signature line of that contract. Now-PFT.

This might explain why one of WH planes is scheduled to go back to Atlanta today. Again, after flights on the 13th and 14th.

We shall see.

Wow, if he won't sign that deal, he must be looking to bolt. What a blow this would be to lose Capers.

I thought the league didnt allow lateral movement, and a team would have to offer him a HC position for him to leave. That said, i dont think any will offer him a HC position and should sign his damn extension making him the highest paid assistant in the league.

Not true. Capers signed a one year deal to come here last year. As of today, Capers contract is expired and he can go elsewhere. Looks like we might lose one of the best d-coordinators in the league. Real shame. :shakeno:

Maybe he's talking with Pittsburgh about HC. Just a theory, but they haven't snatched up Grimm yet, and they let the Whiz leave.

Posted a similar thread right after elite14eva; I'm sure it will be merged.

Pittsburgh is definitely going outside the organization for its new head coach. The Rooneys have always left no rock unturned in their search for the best possible coach to hand the team to. That's one of the reasons the Steelers have been so good for so long.

His contract expires the day after the super bowl after which the Dolphins have 14 days of exclusivity to sign him, if not, then he is free to bolt anywhere he wants for any job he wants. He only signed a one year deal...

That sucks, I thought he was still under contract, still though, i dont think anyone will offer him 2.7 a year and increasing as a D-coordinater. Id hate to see him leave, he did a damn good job with the defense this year, and stability is something we really need right now.

well if this circus just keeps on turning , i think that the rooneys wont pay capers as good as they paid cowher so i cant see capers goint to the steelers. we should hir mike stoops the hc of arizona as out d.c if capers bolt.

Relax man, he's already agreed to the terms on a contract extension. Caper's isn't going anywhere....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I think what you state is true for players, not coaches. According to the Pal Beach Post, he is free to negotiate with other teams starting today. Meaning his contract has expired as of today.
