Miami Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter was named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster today. The selection is the first for Carpenter in his career as he replaces San Diego Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding. For the first time, the Pro Bowl – which kicks off on Sunday, January 31 at 7:20 p.m. ET at Sun Life Stadium – will take place prior to the Super Bowl and will serve as the signature kickoff event of Super Bowl week.

"It’s an honor to be named to the Pro Bowl and especially this year since the game will be played in Miami," said Carpenter. "I am looking forward to representing the Dolphins, I know I wouldn’t be here without the help of my teammates, especially Brandon (Fields) and John (Denney) as well as Coach Sparano and Coach Bonamego and Coach Rizzi."

This is such a joke. The NFL should be ashamed. No doubt Dan deserves consideration but this game is supposed to be the best of the best. Instead its the good, not the best.

This yr's probowl has turned into a joke. Not because of dan making it he deserves it but because of all the drop outs. I hope this is the last yr they put it before the superbowl. Actually I don't know why I'm whining I have'nt watched it in 10yrs because to me it's always been a joke.
 
So that makes, 3 Miami reps in the probowl? 4 if Long didnt go out.. When will McLain drop out so Polite can get in now..

Unfortunately though, the pro bowl this year will be cap full of decent players. It would have meant more if our guys got in without the likes of needing the person ahead of them to drop out.

Three Dolphins made the Pro Bowl(Long, Bell, Carpenter) but only two will actually play in the game.
