Chambers Still a Problem

The game announcers were pointing it out all day today -- Lawyer Milloy was the 8th man in the box, daring us to pass the ball. Who needs to dominate the game when this happens? Chris Chambers -- period. This is exactly what he's paid to do.

You stick 8 in the box against the teams with the other 5 or 6 highest-paid WRs in the league and I guaranTEE you THEY'LL dominate. Chambers gets shut down WAY too easily in this league. He's a #2 receiver, not a #1.

To all the people who are still waiting for Chambers's "breakout year," I have news for you: breakout years don't happen in your 5th or 6th year in the league. Chris Chambers should've already broken out.

I was a little upset with Chambers. I am especially not satisfied with Chambers ability to break up interception plays.

It all fits into the category of "not fighting for the ball downfield." That's his main problem -- lack of aggression.

My problem with Chris today is his lackluster movement out there. He is playing like Surtain did here last season. Just going through the motions and only doing anything when the ball is imminently around him. And even then, I have to say he made 2 p--s poor attempts at breakin gup those long INT passes thrown. Chris needs to learn that you need to play DB sometimes on them and not wait for it to come to your arms. Especially that one Vincent picked off.

as much as i hate to admit it im starting to think the same thing, he drops to many balls, dissapears in big games, and on big drives, fumbles. his 3 or 4 AMAZING catches a year just arent enought anymore, he needs to be way more consistant, and need to get open more, and even when he isnt open be better at going up for the ball

He got his big paycheck one year too early, if he should've ever gotten it at all. Another Rick Spielman mistake.

When teams put 8 in the box on you, your #1 WR needs to have about 8-12 catches for 150-200 yards. That's exactly what Steve Smith did to us when we keyed on Stephen Davis. That's why Chris Chambers isn't a #1 WR.

you could be right but i am still going to pull for chris . the thing about our receiving corp is that our receivers just aren't that hungry for the ball and i said it last spring we should have drafted mike williams because boston is a ghost out there and chambers is in more of a drought , so i think next draft we need to draft receiver and qb then go for a cb and safety.

Chambers isn't very physical guy for having such a big body.

It's a shame, because he clearly has a lot af talent. He just cant seem to play with any consistency.

Not just chambers even booker, when he was in chicago, he was a pro bowler, he had a 100 catch 1071 yard and 8 TD season, and a 97 catch 1189 yard, 6 TD season and the bears were just terrible, we are a much better team. with more weapons means he should be getting more opportunites and doing more with those opportunities. but even from him i havent seen any real consistency

I said the same things after week 1 and got slammed. He'll never be a legitimate #1 receiver.

What are you tallking about I knew someon was goig to bring this up, chambers should;ve had 100+ yards in this game, He was burning the bills secondary many times, but you need the ball to get to the receiver, He was wide open 60 yards down the field but was overthrown, and the flutterball that was caused by Gus when hit in the arm, there wasn't really a chance of him gettign that ball because by the tiem the ball was even remotely reachable, there were 5 bills players right next to him, that ball had some serious hang time, I actually felt Chambers did pretty well agisnt this Bills D, but Miami couldn not connect and take advantage of their chances. The other one Chambers tried to come back and catch the ball, maybe he should've tried to block the int, but it was close from him coming back and catching, and we've seen the crazy catches he's made before, I just wish he held on to that first deep pass, but it was close, and the bills Dbs were slapping at his arms the whole time, but other than that, it was missed oppurtunites, by Gus and the 0-line. Did anyonwe watch the game and see how the announcers were showing footage of plays and you could see Chambers was open deep. but the ball being way under thrown, or lobbed, or even overthrown? I sure as hell did

I gave him the benefit of the doubt week 1, but after week 2 in NY I had a thread here stating something similar, he needs to sack up.

Then he turned around and played great against Carolina and people thought it was funny to call out "Chambers haters". Sorry, but 1 game doesn't make a difference...ask Timmy Smith!! Chambers needs to open his mouth more, and get more physical.

I agree...that drop in the first half right before the botched snap was at least a 10 point swing.

He always seems to come up small in the biggest times.

He'll never be more then a 60 catch 900 yard guy in my opinion.
