Scout.com reports that the Jets signed former Dolphins DE David Bowens to a three-year, $6.1 million contract.
The deal includes a guarantee of $700,000 the first year and incentives that can add an additional $2 million to the contract. Bowens was courted by four teams and adds necessary depth to New York's rotation at defensive end.

This sucks, I hope Roderique Wright emerges as a Back-up quick.....

David Bowens signs with Jets

One of the few pass rusher left in free agency is now off the market. Former Miami Dolphin David Bowens has signed a three year contract with the New York Jets.

Bowens was being courted by the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots and the Jets. Miami was offering a one year deal worth $1.5-million to keep Bowens, who wanted a long term deal. Bowens signed today with the Jets for $6.1-million over three years. The deal includes a guarantee of $700,000 the first year and incentive clauses which

I hate to see this good player go especially to the Yets :(

i honestly think its easy to find 3-4 DE's who can rush the passer..it was nice having D-Bo but its time to get some young pups to learn from JT and Porter..

sounds like Dbo will give us a comp pick next year by looking at that contract

Don't count on it, we always get screwed on comp picks!!!!!

That's a shame. D-Bo was a solid rotation player on the DL. We've got tons of youth to infuse up there, but having Bowens around another year would have been nice. This is a solid pick up for the Jets....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Is it me, or are we gettin kinda thin at DE. All we have is Roth and JT right? Talking 4-3 here. I'm guessing Vonnie can play DE in the 4-3, but yea we need some depth for real now.

Rod Wright can also play DE. yea it seems the AFC East teams love to pick on Miami...im surprised the Patriots didnt take David Bowens, but the Jets did...so we will have to see him twice a year...oh well. let the other AFC East teams be big babies and take our players in hopes to get hints at us...meanwhile we never take their players...then again we always end up last. but we'll show them one day..

With Capers solely running the D now, look for 3-4 sets from now on. Fred Evans and Rod Wright are going to play DE's in the 3-4.

Free agent DE David Bowens is expected to sign a contract on Tuesday.
Bowens has been in discussion with the Panthers, Jets, and Dolphins.

So much for this "Tuesday Tidbit" posted earlier. I was under the assumption it would be w/ the Fins

Didn't want the team to switch to solely a 3-4 because I think our strength for a while has been our DLine (I guess w/ the JP signing our LB's maybe our strength now, favoring the 3-4). Considering we will be primarily a 3-4, then yea we should be fine, because guys like Manny Wright, Fred Evans, Rod Wright and Holiday all can play DE in a 3-4.
