MERGED: Daniel Thomas has season-ending ankle injury

he is under contract next year. if Philbin and Ireland are here, then he will be back.
Miller needs 15+ touches a game.

If that's the case, I hope neither Ireland and Philbin are back, because Daniel Thomas will not carry this team anywhere but to mediocrity.

I think RB could be a focus for Miami in the draft, but the way things are in the league you don't need a Marshawn Lynch or AP anymore. I'd like to see a back who would come in who's style is one cut and go, maybe someone like KaDeem Carey or Marion Grice. I don't need a big back, just one who is a more decisive runner than what we have now. The RB out of Stanford last year who went to Ariz (I think) would have been a good fit, Montgomery?

Neither RB looks like an answer. FWIW, PFF grades DT at +5.9, and Miller at -1.0. I agree that he has gotten more out of what he had to work with than Miller but, not to that extent. Miller had 3 big openings this year for 140 yards, and averaged 3.2 on the other 111 carries. DT's 3 long runs were only for 43 yards without any big openings, and averaged the same 3.2 on his other 74 carries, breaking more tackles.

FWIW

Daniel Thomas
2011- 581 yards
2012- 325 yards
2013- 279 yards

He is always hurt and never played 16 games in a season (13 is his best)
He has never shown anything to claim the #1 rb position
He is a below average at best
He won't be missed

It's a shame we did not sign Bradshaw, who many of us here wanted.

Agreed, other than he will be missed this year as the cupboards are bare. I wanted a vet to go with Miller for blocking as well as running.

When I said he won't be missed , I meant next year. Hard to tell if he will be missed this year because we have terminated the running game.

We needed him late in the game, our running attack couldn't burn the clock, and I'd rather give it to Daniel than Lamar in those situations

Amen. You don't need a RB if he never gets the ball. And what self-respecting FA RB would sign on for this nonsense.

Gillislee sucks...sign a rb he cant be worse.
