Denver Interested In Jerry Rice

I was just watching Total Access and Lincoln, Schefter, and Eisen were talking about Jerry Rice. They said he sent a letter to all 32 teams asking to contact him if they're interested. Denver has shown interest and Jerry has had talks with Mike Shanahan today who he knows well from back in the days in San Francisco. They said Denver would be interested in using him him as possibly the #3 or #4 WR spot. It was also brought up what if they sign Rice and release him because they see during training camp he has lost a step and is too slow, and Lincoln said that would be bad karma releasing a Hall Of Famer. Also, the reason why Denver didn't pick him up last year was because they didn't want to invest anything in him, trading to Oakland because they figured they Oakland would be unreasonable about it considering they are their biggest division rival.

I'm sure they'll be a lot of links about this soon enough and as soon as I find one, I'll post it. But this was all on NFL Total Access.

Here's the link. http://nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/8483344

Saw it too- I think its kind of pathetic they were making a big deal about it. This is a guy who nobody wants, who is 42, who has zero left in the tank.. he will have no impact at all.

Jerry Rice to Denver?

I know, I know, it isn't dolphin related but someone will eventually post it here might as well be now.

Jerry Rice wants to play in 2005, and now he has an intriguing opportunity. According to NFL Network insider Adam Schefter, Mike Shanahan is exploring the possibility of bringing the NFL's most prolific receiver to Denver. Rice and Shanahan worked together for three years in San Francisco, and the Broncos plan on using lots of four- and five-receiver sets. Rice, 42, gained 14.3 yards per catch in 2004.

The man is simply hanging on too long.

And Jake Plummer hits Jerry Rice for a 95 yard TD with no time on the clock to squeak out a 27-26 win! What an Opening Day game for the Broncos in 2005!

I KNOW it's a looooong offseason, but wake up dude, you're seriously dreaming.

i wish romanowski still played for the broncos so he could punch jerry in the face and wake him up, tell him he's to damn old to be playing pro football

I don't know that I agree. He isn't injured, can still be productive, and still obviously has a love for the game. Not only can he make a few catches wherever he goes, but he can mentor the existing receiving core. Its like when Cris Carter was in Miami -- he taught Chris Chambers a lot about catching on the sidelines and in the endzone.

Too bad he didn't take his own advice.
