Merged: Directv WILL (NOT) show the game

You obviously have never gripped it and ripped it. Nothing feels better then being able to rip a drive 300+ yards down the middle of the fairway, where it's nothing but you, the golf course, and God. I can't complain about anyone else screwing up my game, because it's all on me. No coach to complain about, no QB to throw an INT with 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, and no RB that fumbles the ball on the opponents 10 yard line with goal to go.

Just me and the golf course baby - and that's the way it ought to be.

Looks like someone has watched the movie Tin Cup a few too many times... Grip it and rip it over a Dolphins game??? :roflmao:

OK, so I'm in Illinois... what are my options in terms of being able to "listen" to the game live??? How can I do this? I know I've heard some here talk about it. I'm willing to pay or whatever. Please help!!!!

Just go to nfl.com and get the free 1 week trial for NFL Field Pass and then cancel it after the game... I think that's probably your best option.

Dude, not even Florida, just Miami and surrounding areas, Ft. Lauderdale, etc...
Up here in O-Town, we're in the dark as well.:shakeno:

If your willing to drive to Vero Beach, I think you can see it there. I was going to drive to Vero, where I think Beef O'Grady's has WPEC (CBS) and the game. After I spent an hour finding gas in St. Cloud, I changed my mind. I really want to see the game, but I'm concerned that gas will be hard to come by again next week.

Here is the address of Beef O'Grady's in Vero, if anybody is interested.
Beef O'Grady's
782 S. US Hwy 1
Vero Beach, FL 32962
# (772)633-0258 Note: I wasn't able to call to confirm, but I did receive an e-mail from WPEC (CBS) stating they were showing the game and Comcast in Vero has WPEC(CBS).

Hope this helps!

Hey there just wanted to let you guys know my brother just called me at 6pm EST and said Directv just told him the NFL is allowing them to show the game live on NFL NETWORK...I cant confirm...this is what he said...he has no internet access

Dear Josh,

Thanks for writing. Due to weather concerns in Florida, the Tennessee
Titans at Miami Dolphins game has been rescheduled for Saturday. Per NFL
restrictions, this game can only be shown live in the Miami and
Nashville areas. NFL SUNDAY TICKET subscribers can see a replay of this
game on Sunday at 1PM ET on Channel 711 (not available in High
Definition).
Thanks again for writing and stay tuned to DIRECTV.com for the latest
news and information about our service.

Sincerely,

Allan

This is crazy does anyone besides me want to see the so called law that says that a payperview company cannot show a game live?

Actually I think the law prevents them from PLAYING the game. Even if the law does pertain only to TV, it was intended only to apply to broadcast, not DirecTV, a pay service. Let's remember, about the only satellite anybody could name in 1961 was Sputnik. :D

I'll believe it when I see it.

No one is going to ban you. Those guys were just pulling your chain. I appreciate what you were trying to do. When things like this happen it is never easy to get answers and things change.

Don't let a few knuckle heads ruin your experience here. Thanks for the effort.
Columnist, premium member, whatever...you don't have the right to lump me in with "knuckleheads" just to ingratitate yourself with anyone else.

My point stands, regardless of whether Atlanta Phin misled us on purpose or through no fault of his own. At least he butched up and owned his mistake, which is more than I can say for some of those on this forum - including one of the mods.

What I posted (below) was carefully thought-out and I did not bash nor insult anyone.

You want to criticize, do it on solid ground, and don't attempt to dismiss me within some blanket insult. And anyway someone whose posts have been as stridently negative since I've been on this board doesn't have a whole lot of room to be calling anyone a knucklehead.

There have been several threads/posts of this nature since yesterday. If they turn out to be supported by fact, I will thank all of those posters from the bottom of my heart.

But if they are not, and those posters were trying to have a laugh at our expense, I propose (moderators) that unless they prove (copy of actual email - not just text, etc.) their post was based on valid reasons, that they be banned.

No one is saying that this is life or death, but then again neither is the right to post here.

I - like many others who live in affected markets - am on the edge of my seat awaiting definitive word about the live game broadcast; for some putz to play with my devotion to the team just for kicks is counter to the spirit of this forum as I understand it.

I'm not saying anyone is lying yet, there's no cause for it. And again, if they're right I'll be glad. REALLY GLAD!

But I don't think it's coincidence that every account that has the game only showing on tape-delay Sunday can be verified, (link, etc.) yet every post to the contrary can't.

Face it, the game will not be shown live on DirecTV. I, along with many others, have gotten the statement that it will not be shown. NFL execs have been on talk shows and stated the same fact. The game will not be televised until Sunday for the millions of fans around the country.

It is due to the fact that the NFL and DirecTV really don't care about fans anymore. Advertising pays the bills, and with advertisers come contractual obligations. The contracts are ludicrous, and all parties involved should give leeway in odd circumstances, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, and floods.

This will be the first Dolphin game I have missed since 1989 when I was in a coma due to a brain tumor. I'm pissed. I currently despise the NFL/DirecTV/CBS for their lack of understanding of basic fans who don't sit around negotiating contracts all day.
