Anyone else upset about the Surtain Trade

It seems everyone is happy about losing Surtian, there was a reason he costed so much. Its because he's freakin good. A second round and swapping fifths sounds like a bad deal to me. Sabin couldn't even get one of the Chiefs players for him. Our secondry has gone from the best in the league to just another secondary. I'm wiggin out here, anyone else sad about losing him at all. Cap eater or not!:roflmao:

It had to be done or he would have left next season and we wouldn't have gotten anything in return.

Who would want a Chiefs player? Really -- did you think they were going to give us Tony Gonzalez?

It's sad to see a guy who has spent so many good years go, but that's the reality of the NFL today.

Nope. As good as our secondary has been, it's always choked. It's always given up the big bomb late in the game, and failed to get us TOs when we need them.

We get the cash and pick and I look forward to Saban building 'his' team.

Give Poole a chance, plus the NFL is a business, it's part of the game. Let the young bucks prove themselves next year. Think of it this way, at least Poole/Howard had a chance to learn from the best. Kudos Patrick, good luck in KC!

Our secondary hasn't been the best in the league in a few years. We are an old defense. Time to blow it up, get young and start over. This "group" of guys didn't get it done. Now, one by one we must remove them. Surtain was the first piece. He won't be the last.

A 2nd round pick for him is fair value.

Considering the amount of players we would have lost if we were the ones to give him a 7 year $50 million contract.... no I'm not all that upset. I'd have rathered he stay here and play for less... but that wasn't going to happen. I'd be even more upset if he played for us this year in what will in all likelyhood be a rebuilding year... and then left the team afterwords for nothing in return. Had we not traded him, that's exactly what would have happened... not to mention that in order to sign our draft picks, we'd have had to get rid of a few bodies... or renegotiate a few contracts thus putting us in worse cap situation in the future.

Trading Surtain was what was best for both parties... not wanted by either, but necessary.

Yeah, I hate to see him go, but it had to be done. We couldn't afford him going forward and have to get younger.

:D :D He He, but i'm still in denial

MAN i cant take this

There goes our pass d-fence...this is the worse day of edited life. i think that KC got the better end of thisedited deal ...i cant seem to even think of not seeing pat in a phins uni next yr ..this makes me sick matter of fact i just throw up all over my keyboard....Way To go MIAMI ...whos next.....zack then jason edited lets just move the team to another country and start all over bc ill be edited dead before This team edited does anything ..Thanks FEARLESS LEADER :shakeno:

Cant say Im upset about it. Im not thrilled with the compensation, but it is better than the alternative. We arent going to the SB this year whether we have Pat or not, and he would have most certainly been gone next year. We now get a 2nd round pick that may produce a player that contributes to the team for several years. I would have preferred to not swap the 5ths but if it had to happen then so be it.

This was a wanny mistake, if he would have traded Madison and not signed him to that deal, we could have gottin rid of him and used money for surtain. Madison is untradable because of the cap hit. Wanny should have reversed this when he had the chance. Freaking butthead
