I think he might. If you've followed Jimmy over the years, you would know one thing. He doesn't extend himself to the media like he has this week unless he's up to something. The last time he did something similar to this, he was basically letting it be known that he wanted the coaching job here.

IMO, it isn't the coaching job he wants right now. I've got a feeling that Jimmy Johnson wants to attempt to save Dave Wannstedt's career yet again, and he knows what will get it done.

Don't be surprised if Wayne starts talking to Jimmy Johnson at some point about becoming the President of the Miami Dolphins.

Notice that the darts that he threw were more at the management of the Dolphins than at the coaching. The talk about giving up the draft picks and mortaging the future for the now. These are all vieled shots at the team management. To me, and I may be reading more into this than I should, he's basically telling everyone what HE would have done if he had control over the Dolphins.

You may be correct. But, I don't think he can bring back Wannstedt though. Ticket sales would go straight down and fans wouldn't support the team with their pocket book if he is brought back.

Yeah, he could be getting bored on the fishing boat and as an analyst and want to be GM / president. He could get the control he craves w/o killing himself as coach again. I would totally love having Jimmy as president. I have a little fear of him as GM, we'd always maintain a great defense, but settle for mediocre offense like we have the last 8 years under Jimmy/Dave.

Ticket sales were supposed to be effected this year, and that didn't happen. In fact, I believe I read where Miami's season ticket sales actually went up.

If the young players on this offense come together by the end of the season, show the potential they have, and reel off a string of victories in November and December, that will be enough to keep the season ticket holders happy.

Despite the start, I still don't believe this team will finish below .500 this season. The defense is too good, and at some point, the offense will come together enough to win 8-9 games.

But ticket sales were done BEFORE Ricky announed he retired. I would bet a good sum of money that if Ricky retired BEFORE tickets went on sale.......it would be a different story.

I understand your stance and your point of view.........but in all honesty does it matter?

I want a guy in charge of an organization who is going to win (not saying JJ, but anyone). If the guy we get makes us a winner, I don't care how he treats Shula.

If the Dolphins are going to restructure the organization and front office, Im not gonna eliminate a guy for the job because he might not embrace Shula. Look, Don was a great coach, won us a couple rings, and is a nice good man. But we gotta get past the Shula and Marino days. While I don't think Don should be banned from the building, but I can "understand' if new people don't want them around. It is too big of a shadow to work under.

I don't think its that big of a deal. If the new people want Don around talking to the boys and watching practice. Fine, no problem. But, I also understand if the new people don't want him around. I see their reasoning behind it.

If Jimmy wants to comeback, he's more then welcome in my opinion. Last time he came here, he really didn't get a chance to do things his way (with Marino and everything). If he returns, he will be able to build this team the way he wants too. Not that Marino was wrong last time because this is Marino's team above all, just that he will get to take a different approach, especially at the QB position, this time around.

While that may be true, Jimmy Johnson is still a big name. Wayne will jump all over giving him the title of Miami Dolphins Team President if Jimmy is interested because it is something that will create a buzz due to his big name.

Similar to the GM search this year. Wayne would have made a change had a big name wanted the job. He tried coaxing Ron Wolf into taking it, and if Wolf had wanted it, the job would be his today. It's the same way with the coaching situation. Had a coach like Bill Parcells or Jimmy Johnson been available, Wayne would have gone after them.

If by agenda you mean great evaluations of defensive talent and consistently blowing first round picks of offensive talent, then yes he does.

I'm not saying Wayne wouldn't go after Jimmy. Or that he wouldn't necessarily do a good job. I'm just saying this one aspect.....treating Don without respect.....is something that has/would bother me.

It's not as if Shula is at team headquarters every day. I mean, does this guy seem like an imposing figure these days?? :)

I think the writing is on the wall-- no matter how much JJ likes Wanny, a new HC will probably be needed- would JJ go for an Offensive coordinator for coach?

and would RW keep his job?
