Merged:Does Jimmy Johnson have an agenda?/How Soon We Forget.

I would want JJ back as a coach...I truly believe he'd do a decent job...But i wouldnt want him bringing back Wrongstetd.

Didn't Dan Le Batard come out with an article saying that Jimmy's comments were taken completely out of context etc?

It didn't sound to me like Jimmy was taking much of a dig at anyone in particular...and any knock on the way the Dolphins front office or GMing has been, prior to this offseason, reflects directly on Jimmy's close friend Dave...because Dave was in charge of personnel decisions before Rick. I think Jimmy's underlying motivation is to come out in defense of his friend Dave.

I would love to see Jimmy return.

I don't think he wants to coach again though. If he wants to be president and general manager then I would hire him yesterday.

I like the job that Rick Spielman has done but, Jimmy has a track record of winning.

There is no way in hell Jimmy would come back though if Wanny got canned....and I want Wanny's head in a basket more then I want Jimmy to come back...

..Not sure I buy it, but none the less this is one of the more interesting topics I've seen lately. If JJ would to come back, you're right it would be as a top exec role (the one Marino THOUGHT he was hired for). However, friend or not, dave is a must go...maybe Rick too. If this indeed does play out, wayne will fire dave, spend a few months teasing a few BS cantidates (this sound familiar?), and hire JJ. "after an exhastive search..." yada yada. There would have to be a big buffer zone between the dave firing and JJ hiring, so to remove JJ from any appearance of involvement. Next I'll tell you about next Friday's cliffhanger on days of Our Lives...

Exactly. Priorities.

I want a guy in charge of an organization who is going to win (not saying JJ, but anyone). If the guy we get makes us a winner, I don't care how he treats Shula.

And that's Jimmy Johnson?? :shakeno: He's an idiot, period. Is he a step up ahhh check 1996 to 1999 No!!!

Sure I'd love to get back mr. "run, run, run, and punt".

I've been thinking about this lately...who out there would be the best guy to return our credibility the fastest? I can't really come up with anyone out there better than Jimmy. There's really nobody out there available that would bring back as much respect to our franchise immediately. I'm not saying he's the best man for the job (I don't know as much about coordinators and college coaches out there as some), but who else would return the "Dolphin aura of greatness" to the team as quickly as JJ? I'd be thrilled if he came back as coach and personell man. Thrilled. Answer that question for me though. Who would bring back the dolphin tradition best?

I was being sarcastic, and Jimmy Johnson made that exact quote before the jags game "i would like to run, run, run, and punt".

I don't think there's anyone out there right now who would restore INSTANT credibility.

:shakeno: I didn't say that. I said someone......not JJ specifically. Read people, read! :shakeno:

The thing about Jimmy and Wanndstedt is that Wannstedt respects Jimmy and Wanny will do whatever Jimmy tells him. If Wannys screwing up then JImmy will let him know about it, which in turn will make Wanny a better coach. Wanny needs someone to watch over his shoulder and tell him what hes doing right and wrong. Having Jimmy as Team President will give Wanny that sidekick he desperatly needs.

This is a proud organization and has always been held in a high manner. Miami is a perennial winning franchise (6 losing records in history) and after the way things have been this year you just know someone like Jimmy will come in and straightin this mess up just out of respect and the fact of how highly Jimmy would be regarded to come in and turn this team around. Great topic.

I have to disagree.. If someone regarded in a high manner came to this franchise to take an executive position that has had experience building a superbowl team, respect would come back - maybe not instant but it would turn heads. All of the DW and JJ comparisons from Dalllas would come back. We are 5? years post Marino/Shula and we are pretty well off in terms of the salary cap so I think the regins would be completely assigned to Jimmy to straightin this franchise out.

all spec of course and im a lil drunk
