Dolphins | Team showing interest in Copper
Thu, 15 Mar 2007 18:36:28 -0700

Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Miami Dolphins are showing interest in restricted free-agent WR Terrance Copper (Saints). The Saints would not receive compensation if another team signs Copper to an offer sheet and New Orleans refuses to match the offer.

Bill Parcells liked him in Dallas, but other than that I really don't know much about the kid.

I picked him up in my fantasy league last year when Horn went down (I can't remember if it was the first, second or third time Horn had gone down). Anyway, he had one decent game and showed some potential, but disappeared in the next couple of games...

Copper's shown promise in the Saints O. He has a genuine shot at winning the Saints #2 WR spot over Devery Henderson. The Saints will match any reasonable offer for him. There's always the "poison pill" but the NFL's front office has frowned on their use and I think the Saints FO would be more than happy to shop Miami's RFA's to return the favor (now and in the future). Finally it's been rumored (still looking for a printed source) the Copper has said he wants to stay with the Saints and would refuse to sign any "poison pill" offer......

Just noticed that myself so did some quick research, site i visited said has home-run potential.

Listed 6'0 207lbs; 2006 stats; 23 recpts 385 yds 3 tds, 1 rush 8 yds, 4 kick returns 79 yds(19.8 avg) also listed 2 fumbles. (fumble part is a lil scary)

Actually, he started 4 games. I had in fantasy too, :).

The only problem is Brees showed more chemistry with Henderson. Henderson remained as WR3 but posted better games while Copper started. Was just one of those fluky things.... Henderson usually had the better matchup.

Except for Colston, I'd be weary of Saint WR's at this point. It just seems like you can just about plug anyone into that offense and Drew will find them. Not saying they're bad WRs, just saying more of it might be the fact Drew is a pretty darn good QB.
