MERGED: Dolphins cut Chad Johnson

I thought they would take a couple of days to let it sink in, but this shows the Johnson was really on thin ice with the team, even before this incident IMO. As I said this morning, I figured it was 50/50 they would cut him and I totally understand if they decided to go this route. It does eliminate a potential distraction that keeping him around would have created, but no matter what he had left in the tank, Miami did just cut a WR that likely was going to be a starter come week one. Even more pressure for one of the one guys to step up.

Coach pretty much had to A) back up his threat about cutting him if he kept up the stupid remarks and so forth B) Show the NFL teams are truly supporting the Presidents cause of once is too much.
But I agree it shows he was on thin ice and that someone needs to step up.

I am not, but this is the best you can do right now. I think Ireland did a poor job putting the receiver roster together and Philbin thinking he can turn any receiver into a productive one is not wise. I think this team should have prioritized the receiver position more. I like the TE's and backs, but WR is very weak.
