Merged: Dolphins get 2 extra draft picks

The Dolphins have been awarded two compensatory draft picks for the upcoming draft.

The NFL just announced 32 compensatory picks to 15 clubs and Miami gets an extra sixth-round pick (204 overall) and a seventh-round pick (245 overall).

Under the NFL collective bargaining agreement, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in a year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

Last year the Dolphins lost David Bowens, Damion McIntosh, Sammy Morris and Jeff Zgonina and signed only Jay Feely and David Martin.

i disagree why would this belong in the draft forum when its about the dolphins and obtaining more picks the main topic is about the dolphins draft forum would be who we would draft with these two extra picks this is just the announcement.

Well as I understand it, it only counts when the player goes via free agency. I think you can eliminate Welker, Culpepper, Mare right off the bat, and probably more.

They don't count trades or cuts for the comp picks only players lost vs gained as FA's.

Yeah, they don't compensate for stupidity. If they did we would get extra picks every round for the last 10 years.

i totally agree...i thought we get a 5th rounder atleast..those picks are ok...no reason to be excited most likely there will get cut and mean nothing
