Dolphins Interested in LB Darryl Blackstock

The Dolphins and Bengals are interested in free agent OLB Darryl Blackstock.
Both are moving to base 3-4 alignments in 2008. Blackstock was a highly touted pass rusher coming out of UVA, but hasn't done much of it in the pros.

Another young LB with great size (6'3" 244) that may have not shown his true potential because of the 4-3 system. Kid seems to have all the physical tools to succeed in the 3-4. Remember, you can NEVER have enough quality LB's in a 3-4!

he stunk in arizona not sure about him..has enver lived up to his potential..is they sign him im not sure that says nothing about pace how do u know they just want a lb competion come this summer

I don't think this has anything to do with signing Pace or not.

he was a monster in college. huge fan of his coming out. would love to bring him in for cheap just to take a look.

Why? We have SO MANY Lb's

Torbor, Porter, Crowder, Ian Gold?, Calvin Pace?, this other guys we just signed and now him? I am also pretty sure we have even more that we got in drafts from previous years.

You need a LOT of LBers in a 3-4 system, they are the "engine" to your Defense. Also, I don't think the Ian Gold signing is anything more then a ESPN typo. Having LBers (and D-linemen) to constantly rotate in fresh is a recipe for success (See Giants 2007-08)

If he comes in cheap, sure. BTW the Ian Gold from ESPN was a typo

Oh I thought we had Ian Gold..alrigh this is cool then.

In a 3-4 you end up with a lot of linebackers. Traditionally the Patsies have kept as many as 11 linebackers on the roster.

i remember him coming out of college thinking he could be a good pass rush specialist. thats it though

so what do you guys think about putting starks at DE for first and second downs. I know he is listed as a DT but he would be a nice, big DE in the 3-4 that could help against the run for the first two downs. then we bring in blackstock for 3rd down when we think teams are going to pass as our pass rush specialist. Do you guys think that will work, or would putting starks at DE be a bad idea?
