Gus is a captain? What happens if he gets benched at some point? Would he still be captain?

IMO, that means Gus will not be benched unless due to injury. I think this means Gus is our man this season, thick or thin.

I think its more of what CashInFist mentioned.. I cannot foresee a backup ever being a team captain.. Has that ever happened before?
 
Glad to see Gus be elected. Altho i backed AJ all the way until he was named 3rd string...im glad to se the guys get behind our QB regardless of who it is.
 
Seems like Gus is a leader who is well respected among the team. Thats certainly a plus.
 
no suprises except Gus,he had to earn his spot, I dont think a player who didn't really stand out from others on the depth chart should be named captain.I think he pretty much got it cause he's the qb.

The "players" voted. I wouldn't think they would care what position someone played. I would think they voted for who they truly thought was the best candidate for the position.

What happens when he is benched after week 5? Jeez, I know Chambers is the most obvious one on offense, but GUS? Jeez, after how Randy played last year, despite his problems with his wife, I would have wanted him to be a captain.

Randy was a fired up monster during games last year. If you think about it, we really have no standout captain on offense other than Chambers. I wouldnt give it to rookies and I wouldnt give it to first year players either. I can understand the argument for Gus cause he is a vet, but I dont think he starts every game this year.

Its pretty sad when other than Chambers, you cant think of another standout guy to be your offensive team captain. Ricky? :lol: Ronnies a rookie, Randy should be it, Booker seems too quiet, no one on the Oline deserves it, and the other guys are all blah.
