If the Dolphins win and:

Jets (5-4) loses to Bears (8-1)

KC (5-4) loses to Oakland (2-7)

Jacksonville (5-4) loses to NY Giants (6-3)

then the Dolphins will be only one game out of the 2nd wild card spot, behind the Jets, Cheifs, and Jags only.

In addition, if

Browns (3-6) beat Steelers (3-6)

Bills (3-6) beat Texans (3-6)

New Orleans (6-3) beat Cincinnati (4-5)

then the Dolphins will be tied with the Browns, Bills, and Bengals all at 4-6.

The Dolphins also have upcoming games agains the Jags, Bills, and the Jets.

How odd. An almost normal playoff picture after such an awful start.

In the end, we can forget about it probably unless we win out.

All these guys can focus on is winning each and every game. Don't focus on winning all of them, focus on winning each of them.

The best part about the scenario is: We can split against BUF and NYJ, beat JAX and already beat KC, so we'd be set up nicely on the Tie-breaker criteria.

All i know is Denver San Diego Indy Patsissys Baltimore are locks!!!

Miami jets Chiefs Steelers and bengals will be competing!!

Jax is done IMO!!

Tough Sked

Browns are done Jillers are done texans are done also!! Those are the 5 teams!!That can make it

KC will not lose to da raiders!! I dont care who wins between the JIllers and texans!! Gmen will beat Jax!! Eli will be pumped!! jax is having offensive probs!!

I hope Saints beat Bengals!! Would be nice seems unlikely!! Pitt will not lose vs browns but its ok both are 3-6

i think the next 5 6 games the Fish will control their own destiny

If we win, we are okay. If we lose one, we still have a shot. If we lose two, we don't deserve the playoffs anyway.

The Patriots aren't as locked in as you might think. Belichick has an iron curtain up on the injury front, but if you read the signs, something is brewing.

Brady has had two very poor games in a row. The Pats have lost two in a row for the first time since 2002. In comes Vinny Testeverde as a 3rd QB. They are clearly having difficulty finding offensive identity. Receivers are getting benched, and they're running out of them.

Now the defense is giving up yardage on the ground. Harrison's out. Seymour's not healthy (as always). Warren is not healthy. Wilfork is getting manhandled by Nick Mangold (yes, it's true, see the film). Players are speaking out. Seymour says they got outplayed and outcoached by the Jets.

I wonder...really wonder...if Brady is healthy enough to continue playing.

I know this. I write with a Patriots correspondent that is as homerific as they come and he sees 9-7 as a SERIOUS possibility for the Patriots the way they are playing.

The way they are playing, no game left on the schedule is a guaranteed victory, including this weekend in Green Bay.

let's just get back to .500 before people start coming up with scenarios. Let's be realistic, we basically need all of the stars to align for us to make the playoffs. Seriously, it's going to take one hell of a long shot for our beloved fins to get back to the playoffs.

we need to play balls out every game.... Show up everygame bring the heart that showed up last two games.

Yup! You nailed it CK!!!

You're right CK. I for one thought the Pats were a complete lock, even after this Sunday's loss to NYJ. I look at their schedule and I just can't see 3 more losses. I mean you're used to seeing NE come out of things so naturally and turn it on, but with the signing of Vinny, it really REALLY has to make you wonder. Like you said, Belicheck is so quiet about his injuries. This really has the smell of something going on up there in Foxborough.

I mean, heck, I thought with our schedule we would be set. I think we can all agree that this NFL season has been so odd.

I think we have a shot. I think 9-7 has an outside chance of getting into the playoffs. I don't think Miami will get in at 9-7, but someone like Jackonsville, Cincinnatti, or NY could. We have to win out. It's going to be tough. I think through several news articles you can tell that players' focus isn't on that. The focus is on looking at each team each win, winning that game, getting better as a team, executing more consistently, etc. That is the focus this team needs right now, not worry about a miracle road to the playoffs.

Our playoff picture, not impossible!

Our playoff picture, not impossible!

The AFC standings look like the following:

AFC EAST W L T PCT PF PA STRK DIV CONF
New England 6 3 0 .667 201 131 Lost 2 4-1 5-3
NY Jets 5 4 0 .556 177 207 Won 1 3-1 4-4
Miami 3 6 0 .333 146 168 Won 2 0-3 2-5
Buffalo 3 6 0 .333 140 180 Lost 1 1-3 1-4

AFC NORTH W L T PCT PF PA STRK DIV CONF
Baltimore 7 2 0 .778 198 137 Won 3 2-0 5-1
Cincinnati 4 5 0 .444 216 217 Lost 3 2-1 3-3
Cleveland 3 6 0 .333 150 184 Won 1 0-2 2-4
Pittsburgh 3 6 0 .333 215 207 Won 1 0-1 2-5

AFC SOUTH W L T PCT PF PA STRK DIV CONF
Indianapolis 9 0 0 1.000 249 189 Won 9 3-0 7-0
Jacksonville 5 4 0 .556 185 127 Lost 1 1-3 3-3
Houston 3 6 0 .333 144 206 Won 1 2-2 3-2
Tennessee 2 7 0 .222 146 243 Lost 2 1-2 1-6

AFC WEST W L T PCT PF PA STRK DIV CONF
Denver 7 2 0 .778 158 111 Won 2 3-0 7-1
San Diego 7 2 0 .778 297 175 Won 3 1-1 5-2
Kansas City 5 4 0 .556 193 182 Lost 1 1-1 1-4
Oakland 2 7 0 .222 105 181 Lost 2 0-3 1-5

With one team from each division going I have picked the following:

New England
Baltimore
Indianapolis
Denver (this can be substituted by San Diego)

The wilcard spots appear to be with the following teams:

San Diego (this can be substituted by Denver, either way one of these teams is a lock)
Jets (5-4)
Cincinnati (4-5)
Jacksonville (5-4)
Kansas City (5-4)

Yeah those numbers are second best in their division. If we can win out going 10-6 we do have a very good shot at wild card spot.

We would need the Bengals to drop two more ending at 9-7, which looks very feasable with their schedule, they play the following teams:

12 Sun, Nov 26 at Cleveland
13 Thu, Nov 30 Baltimore (possible loss)
14 Sun, Dec 10 Oakland
15 Mon, Dec 18 at Indianapolis (possible loss)
16 Sun, Dec 24 at Denver (possible loss)
17 Sun, Dec 31 Pittsburgh (tough division game)

If Chiefs could drop two more we would hold any tie breaker over them. Their schedule is not the easiet either.

11 Sun, Nov 19 Oakland
12 Thu, Nov 23 Denver (possible Loss)
13 Sun, Dec 3 at Cleveland
14 Sun, Dec 10 Baltimore (possible Loss)
15 Sun, Dec 17 at San Diego (possible Loss)
16 Sat, Dec 23 at Oakland
17 Sun, Dec 31 Jacksonville (possible Loss)

We must beat Jacksonville when we play them and they would need to drop one more game. We would hold any tie braker over them as well. Here is their remaining schedule:

11 Mon, Nov 20 NY Giants (possible loss)
12 Sun, Nov 26 at Buffalo
13 Sun, Dec 3 at Miami (must win for us)
14 Sun, Dec 10 Indianapolis (possible loss)
15 Sun, Dec 17 at Tennessee
16 Sun, Dec 24 New England (possible loss)
17 Sun, Dec 31 at Kansas City (possible loss)

This leaves one team left, the hated Jets. Their remaining schedule isnt to hard. They have to play some teams that are very inconsistant so it hard to tell. Their also very up and down as well making it even worse. Lets hope for them to lose three more games ending at 9-7 one game back from us.

11 Sun, Nov 19 Chicago (possible loss)
12 Sun, Nov 26 Houston
13 Sun, Dec 3 at Green Bay (hard to tell)
14 Sun, Dec 10 Buffalo
15 Sun, Dec 17 at Minnesota (hard to tell)
16 Mon, Dec 25 at Miami (must win for us)
17 Sun, Dec 31 Oakland

Now before you bash me im not saying its going to happen alrhough I hope it does and how cool would that be? I realize this would be very hard but not impossible like some are saying. The defense is playing lights out and special teams are as well (they never get mentioned) except for Mare and we will probably have to count on him some time which is scary.

Lets hope for the best and some accuracy from Joey Harrington, which he did do better at on Sunday.
