MERGED: Dolphins re-sign Soliai to 2 year deal

would have rather resigned langford. would have been alot cheaper

People are quick to forget. Everyone was blown away by Poe's combine numbers....Paul's were similar. The guy is a freakish athlete at his size. He can be dominant in any scheme

. Think before you post. You do realize that he was getting around 12 under his previous contract? Do you really believe he took a 50 percent or more paycut? If so you are delusional.. With that said, I like the move. Soliai is so athletic for a guy of his size. Just has to be more consistant and I think he will be .

Must I continue teaching you. Gardener was more athletic and could put pressure on opposing QBs. Perfect fit for a DT in a 4-3. Soliai is a run stuffing, one plug NT. No penetration or QB pressure at all.
 
Good re-signing for talent sake, but definitely want to see the numbers on this.

Considering how much interest there was in him, I think this is a pretty good contract. Two years so it's not too long or anything and maybe he took less money to say "thanks" in a way for making so much last year.

It's similar to how New England is using Wilfork. Soliai had very similar numbers to Haloti Ngata (with Soliai being a little faster but Ngata being a little stronger if I remember correctly). Ngata was just a more finished product when he came out whereas Soliai took more time to develop.

Sorry buddy, just give up. Gardener and Timbo were block eaters for Zach Tomas. Neither of them were much of a pass rusher. To say that Soliai can't play DT in a 4-3 is ridiculous, considering we just signed him to play in a 4-3.
 
i am very happy about this. i thought we had a shot at keeping langford, and little or no shot at keeping soliai. while i like langford, there are far more people that can man his position in this world than big paul's. just from a value/scarcity standpoint, soliai is a rare breed.

as far as money is concerned, if necessary you approach all the veterans that are making bank (jake long, etc.) and ask them to take a lump sum now so we can prorate it over their deal to free up some cashola.

Thats a very fair deal I think. Glad he finally came around to considering the money he got from the tag as part of his guaranteed money

I think before I post, he doesn't deserve 12 million a season, get real, that's money you expend for a quarterback not sorry ass defensive tackle, but knowing Ireland's love for cornefed lineman he just killed our cap.
