Ernest Wilford’s disappointing stint with the Miami Dolphins has come to an end.
The team has released Wilford, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus via his Twitter page.

If true, I will honestly say I'm surprised. I guess the position change didn't do much to help his case. It's a shame how his time with us turned out, as what he was supposed to bring to the team was/is sorely needed.

Just too slow, in his learning and on the field. It seems like he was sort of catching on, but it took too long, and we have too much talent in other places to keep the Wilford project around another year.

He wasn't going to make the cut, I think even he knew that. He will catch on somewhere, maybe he will play better in their system. I won't feel to sorry for him though he made a ton of money last year for 3 catches.

His trial at TE may have hurt him making at team at receiver this year

Will it all be absorbed this year having no effect on next year even if there is a cap??

I wonder how much Hilliards success these last 2 weeks influenced this decision.

I do think the dolphins all along planned to only keep 3 RB's and possibly 3 or 4 TE's and maybe 5 or 6 receivers.
But maybe Hilliard impressed them enough where they just might keep 4 RB's and only 5 receivers where another is PS bound.
