Blah, blah, blah. We hear this every year. I will believe it when I see it. Words are cheap, actions are more meaningful.

At Senior Bowl practices today, Ireland told the Sun-Sentinel that he’s confident that the Dolphins can make the moves this offseason that will help build a team that won’t just have a winning season but a championship season.

“We’re 6-10, so obviously you’ve got to do a better job of putting wins together,” Ireland said. “I think we’ve got a nucleus and a foundation of talent on this football team that has a chance to be good. And we’ve got to continue to build a roster to be better than good. Because good is just not good enough. We’ve got to be great. And we’ve got to work on getting the pieces together to make a much bolder statement in South Florida. We want championships, we want wins, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Between Ireland’s comments, new head coach Joe Philbin promising an up-tempo, attacking team in all three phases of the game, and owner Stephen Ross saying he’s willing to spend the money necessary to get a franchise quarterback, the Dolphins sound awfully confident this offseason. Dolphins fans would probably prefer that the championships come before the bold statements.

Let's give him a chance. He drafted well last year. I like what he said and I remain positive that he will do a nice job.

He will have to prove more to me than just one draft to make up for the last 4 yrs. I am open to change my opinion, but stop making comments until you actually do something.

just need to hit on the QB, and the rest takes care of itself

well, what is he going to say?...."we're going to make some stupid move and will have another losing year"?

Ozzy rules!!

Here's a suggestion, "We are going to try and field the most competitive team we can", then shut up and go home.

i like hearing winning championships now it's time to get it done ireland talk is cheap but action speaks louder than words!

PFT: Dolpins want to make bold statements, win Championships

Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland isn’t letting three straight losing seasons deter him from thinking big.
Ross/Ireland never seem to learn that "talking" and "promising" things is not the same as really doing them.

I remember last off-season getting a phone call from the Dolphins about my seasons tickets. The nice young lady told me about all the exciting things that was going happen during the off season with the Dolphins. She did not really know of any of these things, she just promised that they were great and exciting.

As I remember, all that happened was Ross fuxking up by talking about trying to sign a new head coach in Harbaugh and then looking extra stupid when he turned us down and he had to sign Sparano to a one year extension.

Looking at his history, he will talk a lot about it, then maybe find a old washed up "franchise" QB who is not really that good. Then he will make him the starter without a QB competition.

We finally have a coach that's been part of a winning Franchise. Someone who knows how to get the best of his talent and put together a winning game plan. We have to find a QB to run his type of aggressive offense, and then we can talk about competing for a championship!!! I'm glad we're cleaning house and building an exciting staff that will attract more players to Miami.

I think their going all in on Manning.

And the ONLY way I won't BARF in my mouth if they do.... is if they also get Flynn too. Yep, I said it. I do NOT want the Dolphins paying for Manning's retirement.

After his 3rd surgery, even Manning doesn't know how healthy he is. And his team just demolitioned it's FO and is publicly moving on to the Luck era. If there were ever a big flashing neon sign saying "don't touch this player"... this is it.

The only thing left I need to hear is our medical staff giving him a clean bill of health. PRICELESS!

Manning is done. He's a 1 or 2 year stop gap for a drafted QB. We need a Franchise QB that has his whole career in front of him, not behind him.
