I know every time a player gets released or is rumored to be available, chatter boxes all over NFL-land go nuts speculating that this player might go here or there. Since Domanick Davis hails from my hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana, I'll participate in this usually futile excercise.

But this particular situation I think merits serious consideration for a couple of reasons.

DD has been injured and unable to practice on a regular basis in TC. Gary Kubiak, the new coach isn't particularly thrilled about this...and has let it be known publicly. He has stated that the Texans are prepared to go into the season with Wallly Lundy and Vernon Merancy <sp> as their top two backs.

We know that Nick Saban isn't pleased with our current RB situation and is looking to upgrade the spot. Being that Saban is very famaliar with Davis and likes his former players also adds to the possibilities that Davis could end up in Miami.

If this were to happen, I think this would be a big upgrade for us. Davis is a true third down back. Thats what he was at LSU. LaBrandon Toefield got most of the carries and DD ran back punts and played in specific situations. It wasn't until he got to Houston that he became an every down back.

This would be great for us and him. If would could get a player like Davis and get him healthy by the bye week, our offense would be greatly improved going into the meat of the schedule.

I will be watching this very closely.

But do you think he would be willing to add an injury prone running back

Serious speculation??? More like "magical thinking." Seriously doubt Saban is going to give a roster spot to an injured player. Furthermore, I don't recall Saban not being pleased with our RB situation. It does appear he is always looking to upgrade, but an injured player is "not" an upgrade.

I have heard that Domanick Davis will be placed on IR or PUP, but he is too valuable to release. Remember, this is the guy they went with instead of drafting Reggie Bush. He is injury prone and I believe he will miss significant time, but I doubt he will be released when he can simply be placed on the injured list. In fact, another name you brought up Labrandon Toefield is a possibility, as I have heard he may have a difficult time making the Jags final roster. That may have all changed with Greg Jones being gone for the year, but you never know.

The mods should start a thread about player cuts and sticky it at the top of the thread.. Everytime a player gets cut someone is going to start a thread about it saying we should nab him .

I think that at some point Saban might have thought about adding another RB to the roster, but now, he seems fixed with the guys we have. I think Morris will do just fine as a Backup. Besides, I do not see DD or Chris Brown, whom some people speculated might be coming to Miami, coming to the Dolphins since they are both injury prone.
Something to look into, is the rest of the season Ricky Williams will have in Canada. He is coming back in two weeks, and the Toronto Argonauts are 5-5 and tied for second in their division.
Do you guys see him coming back and making an impact next season?

I think ricky is one of the top 10 running backs in the nfl but thats just me.He will be very good if he stops f@@king up.I sometime can't figure out these player how they can ruin there careers.I'm pretty sure saban is waiting for the cuts to see what running back he will take.If we dont pick up somebody i think we are in for a long season ronnie needs more time to develop and with time I'm sure he will be a great Rb.

Domanick Davis backup RB?

How about making a run at Domanick Davis as a backup RB? As I recall, he's pretty good.

Running back Domanick Davis, the Texans' career rushing leader, is in danger of not making the team this season. Davis, who missed five games in 2005, has not practiced since the first week of preseason because of a bruised left knee that is unrelated to the arthroscopic surgery he underwent on the same knee in December. Unlike Wali Lundy and Vernand Morency, Davis has been unable to be on the field to impress his new coaching staff, specifically head coach Gary Kubiak and offensive coordinator Troy Calhoun. Kubiak said Monday that if the regular season began today, Lundy would start against Philadelphia.

Not feeling this guy i would rather have brown :dolphins:

Sounds like a possibility.

He's performed decently well as a starter, which means he has high upside as a backup and he is a former LSU guy.
