MERGED:Enough with the QB's\How did we go from Feeley...

Possibly being the starting QB on Friday..before Sat's game...to him being possibly cut. Ive had it. AJ...you dont realize this..but some of these thread authors are the best marketing tool you have for the VIP room. These threads make absolutley NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

Fine Gus is starting....he played marginally better than AJ Sat. He didnt play any better than AJ in the first game. But..hey...he sucks..so lets cut him...or let Sage or Brock...take over the #2.

Where does this line of thinking come from?

VIP here I come!!!!

It depends on where you're coming from. I never thought AJ had legitimate starting potential (and I can show you many posts where I explain/complain that he lacks feel). I had him about even with Sage (ability wise, but lately Sage has outplayed him). I don't expect him to be cut, but it's not out of the realm of possibility if Berlin performs and the economics favor dropping AJ. The only people who are shocked by this are the ones who think AJ had/has all this untapped potential. But AJ has never shown much. In Philly he limited his ints to one a game and the team didn't lose much, but it's not like he did anything impressive. He has't been impressive in Miami, other than 1 throw where he didn't have to read a thing. The support he's had has been based primarily on the thought that he could be good b/c he's young(er) and excuses or shifted blame for his past failures. The support has never been b/c of things he's actually accomplished. Simply put, he has weaknesses that are generally difficult to overcome and has shown no sign of being among the few that can overcome those difficulties.

No, to be a bust you have to show some sort of promise, and then dissapoint everyone. AJ has shown no promise, but still dissapoints everyone...

Time to face the music here.....Feeley is worthless.....

There's something about being a QB. You either have it or you don't, and thus far Feeley hasn't proven he has what it takes. His reads are horrible, his pocket awareness is poor, and he throws too many picks to top it off. I can watch any 3rd string QB do that....

Speaking of 3rd string QB's, Berlin looks better than Feeley right now, and I can't imagine Saban keeping Feeley over Berlin at this point. Not with the promise he's shown. Saban also drafted Berlin, so Feeley would be just another Speilman castaway in those regards....

I've seen enough of Feeley to know he's not getting any better.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

No..YOU read into it that Feeley was fighting for a roster spot. How do you know he was referring to Feeley. As far as McMichael response...could it be that the reporter asked about Gus only. I seem to remember the same typw of comments about Feeley before. Also..I think you should look at some of the Eagles comments about Feeley when he..led the team to a 4-1 finish and the division. Hmm..dont member them saying...he looks like a deer in headlights or any of that. Do you??? For a refresher..Google Feeley's career in Philadelphia. Or are we supposed to infer that that was all luck. Lets take a look at the stats so far shall we:

Gus - 31 17 194 54.8 6.3 1 3.2 0 0.0 44 2/13 84.6

Feeley - 20 10 95 50.0 4.8 0 0.0 1 5.0 22 1/7 42.7

Gus has attempted 11 more passes than Feeley. His lone TD was a fluke. How can anyone realisticly draw any conclusions on these numbers? Enough to say Gus starts now? OK. That argument I can buy. Cut AJ and promote Sage or Brock....NO WAY can I buy that argument.

What would AJ's rating be had DT caught that one pass? Above 65...

What would Gus's rating be if his wounded duck fell imcomplete? Much lower than 84.6.

Or if you dont buy my words..listen to Greg Bedards words from the post about last weeks game.

And I quote..

"Some people think Gus has pulled away from AJ. I don't think so. Gus had some really bad throws vs. the Jags and some bad reads. I saw a lot of players running free but the ball going elsewhere. And I still don't understand how you throw to Wes Welker in the end zone when David Boston is lined up on the outside one-on-one. Gus may be a vet, but we've have seen that his biggest weakness is mental breakdowns (the wall, anyone?).

I thought AJ did OK minus the interception. Having watched the play and then seeing AJ in the lockerroom after the game, I can tell you that throw was definitely made out of frustration. AJ is really, really frustrated. He didn't say anything, but you definitely sense that being around him. He's frustrated that he had to come out of the first game. He's frustrated he was playing with the twos and guys like Travis Minor and Derrius Thompson dropping easy passes. I think he feels like the starting job might now be Gus' and that he didn't really have a fighting chance.

I agree with him a little. This is what I would have done if I was Saban. I would have played both guys an equal amount vs. the Bears because it was an extra, weird game. Then I would have given each guy a start in the next two games and decided at that point. I can understand why Saban would be inclined to name a starter after the second game (to give the ones two good games to work together before barely playing the last game), but that Bears game was too strange to make that one of the auditions. It was played in a high school stadium, for crying out loud."

This is my whole point also this was no qb comp It was a charade so Saban could say he had it up for grabs when in reality it wasnt cause I don't care if Saban was the coach or not there is not a sane person alive who could watch those 2 games look at stats and circumstances and come out with a starting qb to do so you would need a crystal ball which last i checked saban doesnt posess so the truth is aj shoudl be pissed if Saban did this thinking aj woudl be happy backing gus up after the token comp then he was wrogn and I bet aj will ask to be cut!

Has a starting QB been named? I think there is/was a QB competition, but i'm not sure AJ will have to ask to be cut, because it might happen anyways.
