Agreed, Satele needs to be moved, and we need to draft a new center or get one in FA. Torn labrum or not, he cant handle the down under tackles.
 
If a Center is the best player on the board when we draft at 25, I'm all for it.

I think Samson is really getting a bad rep. The guy is quoted as being too small, too weak, not really able to hold up against big NTs etc etc. A lot of this info isn't exactly true. While he may indeed need to bulk up, Satele did a solid job earlier in the year, notably the excellent job he did on Vince Wilfork in the first MIA/NE. I know the second matchup went to Wilfork, but you can't discount the impact of a torn labrum, not to mention the quality of guard Samson had next to him for a large part of the year. Smiley is at worst a solid guard, but Ndukwe and Alleman (while serviceable and givers of good effort) are not starting caliber guards. Samson did a really good job given that he was injured and had sub-par guards playing next to him for a large portion of the year. Guard play in assisting the center shouldn't be overlooked, as almost no centers in the league can man up one on one against excellent NT's. As CK noted in another thread, any Nose Tackle that can't manhandle a Center one on one isn't worth squat. I'm not saying Samson is an all pro center, and I think he has a lot of work and improvement to do. However, lets give him a year playing next to a healthy duo of Justin Smiley and (a hopefully improved) Donald Thomas before saying he isn't big/strong enough to handle the bigger Nose Tackles.
 
I agree but it would be really nice for him to at least beat someone competent out for the starter role. That way there isn't a huge drop off.

I see us taking Mack if his available in the first or Caldwell with 2B. I think there will draft O-line men with the 5th and 7th rounders. Don't call me crazy for wanting to draft three linemen. Smiley and Thomas are guaranteed to be back to form, so if if we upgrade at C Samson might have to start and then we would not have any depth.

If you're crazy for wanting that, then I'm nuttier than squirrel turds:lol: You can never have enough Oline depth. Giving Samson some competition at the spot (whether by vet ala Jason Brown or rookies like Mack or Unger) can only be a good thing. Worst case scenario, Samson loses the starting spot, but provides valuable depth at C and both Guard spots, versatility that this front office loves. I held my breath all year long every time a lineman went down, knowing depth was very suspect behind all five positions, especially tackle (Godforbid Jake Long or Vernon Carey had to miss significant time:hitit:) Bringing in Oline depth can only help
 
Tim Graham of ESPN said an inside source tells him the #1 priority for Dolphins

Is Center, their not happy at all about Satele's play against the NT position according to his inside information.

He said this today on Sirus radio, take it for what it's worth. I know this isn't earth shaking news but it's another source reporting Satele's number is up at the Center position.

As much as I'd like to see an upgrade at the C position, I have to agree. BP just isn't the kinda guy to allow any such inside sources to tip his hand.
I'll bet the only three people that know what the Dolphins top priority is are BP, JI and TS.
 
i don't think satele's done. he was great as a rookie but struggled at times last year. he didn't play bad enough to warrant his position being the greatest need.
