Did anybody just see that

On inside the huddle with John Clayton on ESPN he said that the team is 6 mil over the cap and Gus could be chewing up 5 mil in cap space next year. I thought we were in great cap shape, can anyone explain?

I heard it too. Beats me. Might not know what the heck he is talking about.

I believe he is technically right..but there are a few people who we can drop that we dont really need that would put us like 25 mill under or something like that.

i don't see any possible way that could be correct...we're supposed to be like 28 mil UNDER:confused:

i was watchin ESPNEWS earlier and heard him say this also.thats gonna be a tough decision i would like to have gus back but at that cap # im not sure.maybe clump could help us here but if we cut him and then resign him will that escelator he hit still count against out cap?..and after cuts we should have a good amount of cap space.

maybe...as everything stands and taking into account all yearly contract increases the fins are over. but its nothing to worry about. there will be more than enough room

We are only in cap trouble next year to the extent that teams are continuously in cap trouble.

As I understand it... with expected cuts/retirements we will sit easily double digits under the cap. I have no idea where he got that figure.

As for Gus... he's obviously not worth five million in cap space, not even close. We could get someone making the league minimum to be the 30th ranked quarterback in the NFL.

Mueller said in his press conference that we will have more than enough money to get the free agents we want. I think he knows more in detail about Miami's cap situation than Clayton does so I am not worried about this speculation.

correct. i posted a link yesturday that shows our situation as far as cap and players. it was on NFL.com. Once gus, howard, jeno (paycut or gone), seau, madison (paycut or gone), JT (maybe a paycut he wants to win), mcdougle, seth, jones, booker (paycut or gone) etc etc are dealth with we will be in the 25 mill range.

The only reason the Dolphins will be under the cap by 20-25 mil is IF they don't resign certain players and according to next years cap....it should be appx 12-15 mil more than this year. It all add's up. There's going to be a few teams with alot of cash to spend....after the season is over.

ok sounds good, im confident if we have the cash to spend, saban and mueller will make this team a contender :dolphins:

Just saw that peice again ( yes i do watch sports center over and over) it said frerrote's future in miami looks doubtful. it said his cap would hit too high and also pointed that miamis cap will be high making it tough for saban to find a replacement. that last part is the only part i dont get. so hes saying gus will be out, and we wont have much cap room. hmm

According to John Clayton...

Tonight on ESPN, John Clayton was reporting about Gus Frerotte, and how the Dolphins may not be able to afford him considering we are 6 million over the cap next season... Anyone else see it, maybe someone else can give me some more info.

If Clayton really thinks we're going to end up $6M over the cap next year, then he's as stupid as he is ugly.
