Merged: ESPN News Reporting that Jets have permission to talk to Favre

Nice. Favre plays a year, MAYBE two for the Jets and they likely have to give up their 1st round pick in 2009. Hope it happens.

I dare New York to trade for him. Besides, if Favre is on the Jets on Opening Day, at least I know for sure I'll be getting that game.

But if this was the Phins trading for him, it would be the best thing since sliced bread.:rolleyes2:

What we have on the roster sucks, this would be a huge improvement for us.

How could they possibly have any money left after that spending spree they went on. I hope they sign him too. Then when they suck this year he will retire again next and the jets will be out a bunch of money and picks.

Favre will not be as effective in a brand new system, new coach, etc.

Forget Favre. Whatever team he lands on WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (if he starts 80% of the games).

There is no miracle player.

IMO it would def. improve them...although it might be wiser to let Clemmons take the reigns..

He's on the cover of Madden. Joey Porter will Theisman him in game 1.

Eagles run damn near the same offense

There are a lot of Dolphins fans, including myself, who have said numerous times that trading for Favre would be a huge mistake. He is a nice player, and would improve the QB position for THIS YEAR, but I don't want anything to do with him.

First off, to get him you would have to TRADE for him, and after Miami ripped off the Redskins for 34 year old Jason Taylor, you know the Packers will want similar if not more in the way of compensation.

Secondly, Favre would play one, two years top, is he really worth a 2nd or 1st round pick? NO.

As in Miami's case, another reason is that it would hurt the development of the young guys like Beck and Henne. They are the future, and adding Favre would set them back.

The Jets though don't really have a QB for the long-term. So, adding another stop gap QB wouldn't hurt the young players development. I am rooting for the Jets getting him because they will likely have to pay a steep price to get him.
