IMHO the Brees signing won't be signed until...

He is checked out by Doctors, he is question to see what his mental abilities for football are. Then you have to factor in his conferring with his agent after he receives the Dolphin proposal, his asking New Orleans what more they will add etc etc...

Therefore the earliest he could possibly AGREE to a contract would be late this afternoon. Then you would have to factor in that the Miami Dolphins would have the lawyers go over the contract etc.

Plus the fact that Miami is notorious for taking a long time to sign players. And that they like to call press conferences announcing his signing with all parties there. So I guess would be that the official word will leak out late tonight with the press conference around noon tomorrow. So as you see there may be more waiting for this process to be all over with.

Well that's how I see it anyway.

I think Brees makes a decision by tonight and if its today, the press conference comes tommorrow along with 8 other signings and then we wait for the draft. Oh, and gus gets restructured or cut.

If Bree's does not sign or agree to a contract today his chance of being a Miami Dolphin goes down alot. I think if he does not we will pull the trigger on Culpepper. I think there is a good chance we know the future of the Miami Dolphins tonight!

Well no offense, But those fans are smart! The Saints are stupid to even try and sign Brees cause they can draft Leinart or Cutler with the 2nd pick! However I guess they can try and trade out. I think Miami gets the deal done today!

yeah, drew is only thinking with money, and now he will face the same situation as SD. How the hell can you diss your team over that and then go to this? amazing. I do think NO is the favorites now regardless of what anyone else thinks, then again, its posturing to get more money out of us?

The Associated Press reports free agent QB <A href="http://www.kffl.com/player/1650/nfl">Drew Brees (Chargers) left New Orleans Sunday, March 12, without a contract offer from the New Orleans Saints. Brees said New Orleans' rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina would not dissuade him from coming here. He said he helped build programs in Purdue and at San Diego that had been down and that the challenge of rebuilding in New Orleans appealed to him. He is now on his way to Miami.

hmmm, I would think that Coach Houck, who knows him personally would have already answered that question...

Well as a Saints fan weighing in here on Bree's here is my take. The Saints WILL do everything they can to sign him. They have focused (it seems) on Bree's and nothing else. They have let greater needs (defense) sign elsewhere (to our dismay)! Saban will have to pull a great snow job on Bree's & come up with comparable money to sign him. I am not personally sold on Bree's with his recent surgery but I hope that the Saints indeed do sign him if for no other reason than to put to bed all Leinart hype. Bree's has done it in the NFL and Leinart has not, its that simple! By signing Bree's the Saints would set themselves up in a great position in the draft to able to trade down and get a nice selection of picks. The Saints have holes everywhere and having the extra picks to address those needs would be IMO the way to go. Fact is after having given this some thought for a while is that the Saints CANNOT afford to let Bree's slip through their fingers. Even though it looks good for Miami right now I still think the Saints will sign him given our GM is willing to give him basically a blank check. Either way maybe we will find out today.

Well though out reply and welcome to the Fin Board Thunder1966.

How do you reply to some who say that New Orleans wants to sign
Brees because he will be less expensive than Leinhart?

I disagree....Saban and Meuller went to Birmingham Saturday...that's when they talked with the doctors...Brees was here Sunday, that's when our doctors looked at him...In one of the articles somewhere this morning it said that Condon would speak with the Fins this am...that means that the poking and proding is done...it's about the money from here on out...

Article from the Palm Beach Post this morning stated that the Dolphins will examine Brees shoulder and give him an exam this morning at the facility and they will go over all his x-rays and medical documents. They may have inquired in Birmingham but will go in depth this morning.

Well I am one of those Saints fans that think Brees will opt for Miami. Of course, if money is the sole basis for his decision, he could end up with the Saints because they have the cap bucks to get crazy with an offer. If that were the case, then I would wonder if we really want a guy who is just about the money.

I don't think Brees is just a money guy, and the best situatuation and chance to win now for him would probably be Miami.
