Even though there are plenty of concerns about Terrelle Pryor’s throwing
mechanics and maturity, he’ll be on an NFL roster in 2011.

Even though the Ohio State product is far from being a polished quarterback,
he’s too talented an athlete to not be playing on this level. That’s why I’m
told by league sources the possibility of Pryor becoming a Miami Dolphin on
Monday when the NFL’s Supplemental draft takes place “is pretty good.”

The Dolphins have a strong need for an upgrade at the position, and sources
tell me the organization has done an extensive amount of research on Pryor since
he was banished from Ohio State for receiving extra benefits earlier this
summer.

The Dolphins were one of numerous teams to attend his Pro Day last week, but
that doesn’t mean much. It does show us Miami is interested, but doesn’t say if
General Manager Jeff Ireland will submit a fourth, fifth, sixth
or seventh-round draft pick to land his services.

According a team source, the Dolphins like Pryor’s height, athleticism and
arm strength. However, the team only views him as a developmental project, a
third quarterback who “would need time to develop.”

Not helping matters is the fact Pryor will be suspended for the first five
weeks of the NFL season as part of a joint punishment from the NCAA and NFL (how
the hell does that happen). He will not be allowed to play OR PRACTICE during
that period, which will likely stunt his development in 2011.
Pryor will already be behind considering he’s missed three weeks of training
camp and two games, so any team that selects him on Monday would have to stash
him on the 53-man roster without benefiting from his play as a scout team
quarterback for over a month.

However, that might not stop the Dolphins from use a late-round pick to
acquire Pryor’s rights. Behind Chad Henne, the anointed starter
entering the final year of his rookie deal, and Matt Moore, who
signed a two-year contract worth $2.5 million last month, the Dolphins have VERY
little.

Terrelle Pryor is not a quarterback. I hope the kid wasn't lying when he said he would consider a position change. Otherwise, it's foolish to spend even a late round pick on this kid.

For a 7th, maybe a 6th round pick I would take a chance on him. Anything above a 6th round pick imo is a risk.

Why would this regime, who are on the hot seat, have an interest in a long term project? Really don't see them having a strong interest in him.

Ireland imo is NOT on the hot seat.

You may be right. There's not really time to focus on him at this point though, shortened offseason and busy trying to see what we already have (not to mention he'll be suspended 5 games and not be able to practice) can you really see them having a strong interest in him?

I have to echo was Nubs said. I'm not a Pryor fan, but for a 6th or 7th I'd be willing to take a look at him, and try to use his athleticism to our advantage.

Worst case, he sucks and we don't have a late round pick

Is this like the thread Tebow will be drafted in the 3rd+ rounds? Ponder “late” 1st round? Gabbert #2-3 overall? The point is i FULLY expect he will be draft way earlier than most people think.
