MERGED: Fitzgerald leaving ARI is slowly getting closer........

No chance we get him. Other teams can give a better offer than we can..don't be surprised if the Jets jump in seeing as they make their own money as the hours go by.
 
i doubt it will happen and dont get you hopes up to much just to get let down
 
i would love to see him in a dolphin uni also, but it isnt going to happen, i think the dolphins will get another receiver either signing one or in the draft

the cardinals would ask for an arm and a leg to get fitz

The Cardinals structured Fitzgerald's rookie contract with lucrative clauses that they did not forsee him fulfilling. But, as luck would have it, he has become a perennial Pro Bowl WR and has exceeded all of his initial contract's incentives.

Now the Cardinals are scratching their heads, trying to figure out how they are going to pay Fitgerald and still field a team. Fitzgerald, the third overall pick in the 2004 draft, will make $14.6 million this season and could make $17.4 in 2009. There is no way the Cardinals can afford to pay one player this much money and still expect to compete.

Our draft should end up like

13) DRC
2a) Best tackle still on Board
3) MLB
4)TE

If they have serious cap issues, why would they want to pay #1 pick money to any player???
 
What about JT and a 3rd or 4th round pick for LF? They just lost their 3-4 OLB in Pace.
 
Dont get your hopes up guys..we have no chance at him. Redskins, Eagles, Vikings all need a WR more than us and they have showed they will throw anmy amount of money or players or picks to get one. Dolphins are only concerned with spending money wisely and they aren't abut to blow most of their cap space on one guy.

that's not the problem! the problem is that all that money is guaranteed for the next two years. We have the cap space we should go after him and sign him. The cardinals could always structure the 1 pick differently.

Actually, all of those teams have better receiving cores right now than the Fins. They are all just in a better position to get someone like LF, while we need to focus on rebuilding and adding depth.
