Gus Frerotte will be starting QB. A.J. falling further than 2nd?

Saban wants 'consistency and leadership' from his quarterback

Now that Feeley is second on the depth chart, could he fall further?

Sage Rosenfels leads all the quarterbacks in passer rating (108.0) and touchdowns (two). Brock Berlin is tops with a 71.4 completion percentage. Of course, both have done it against backups. But both might get better opportunities soon.

My 1,000th Post and i wasted it on Gus

This is just another thread of same stuff but I want to say for the record if gus is named the starter after these 2 preseason games that have showed us nothing but that they are even I think That Saban and Lienhan did a injustice in the way they let this competetion go as Feeley was absolutely not the benefit of first team help or playcalling and we have not gotten a real picture to what either of these 2 qb's can do!

Honestly, I wouldn't name a starter until August 28, the day after the 4th preseason game. Feeley and Frerotte should each get another start with more playing time for each.

On the contrary I believe they should name a starter ASAP. Delaying would only be repeating the mistakes of last year, when the QB competition dragged on unnecessarily right up until the first game of the season, when merely one half of a bad game was enough to yank Jay Fiedler in favor of AJ Feeley.

Name Frerotte now. In Gus We Trust, for Better or Worst, til Gus do us part. Listening to Gus speak, there is definitely value in getting him the bulk of starter reps sooner rather than later. The sooner that happens the sooner he and Chambers and Randy and Marty all get to feel each other out on how they want to run things. Gus has a complete understanding of that. AJ seems to lack it.

I also think we need to name a STARTER now.....the receivers need to know who is going to be throwing to them and get used to his style and vice versa...I am hoping it is GUS.

And I say no more of this 50/50 snaps b.s. either. Name Gus now, and get him the bulk of the snaps.

If you name Gus starter now what happened to the fair, unbiased, doesnt matter he wasnt our guy competition we were preached we were going to see? All it says is that they paraded Feeley out there to appease Wayne and Feeley himself even though you can tell he doesnt feel lik ehe has gotten a fair shake so far. Just look at any of his comments and it si spelled out he feels he hasnt gotten the benefit of the playcalling and players needed to get the job done, as for Gus I am tired of his soundbites where all he does is campaign for the starting job talking about how much he needs to get all the practice with the 1st team! Its as if he has known the whole time he had the job and just wants the charade to be over!

Don't tell me its his confidence because he hsant shown anything in his 12 years to be confident abou tif anything it is conceit in his own ability or miopia regarding the lack of it!

I agree completely. Also, there's something to be said for consistency with the O-Line and the QB when they have time to play together, there are tendencies an O-Lineman can pick up concerning and QB and vice versa, this information can sometimes pay off .. I know it's not huge, but, just another by-product of getting a starter named quickly and get one group working together consistently and constantly to help them gel together and learn each others tendencies.

I don't see a reason to rush into a decision before the next game, but I don't think it would do any harm to do so if Nick has made up his mind. As long as the 4th game features the starters for a half and gives them a chance to do a dry run, they'll be fine.

If he has made up his mind he should announce it cause it is some bs to the other qb if they thinking they still have a shot at the starting position!

Feeley takes too long to make up his mind....with Gus he gets rid of the ball....we don't need another year of Feeley standing there getting sacked and fumbling the ball and hobbling around cuz his a$$ hurts.

He hasn't made up his mind. These guys are just speculating. Saban said himself that no decision has been made. From what I can tell they are still pretty even and I also don't feel Feeley has gottena fair shake in the preseason (ie Thompsons major drop to stall that drive against the Bears, blitzing of the Bears 1st team Defense, more game planning for Jax 1st team Offense, etc.). Heck Gus should have took it to the end zone against Jax, but couldn't and now a ton of people are naming him the starter. I don't get it.

If Feeley is so concerned about winning this job, maybe he could pay attention to the sideline photo reviews with the coaches like our other three QB's. I wanted Feeley to work out, due to our trade investment and what appears to be a live arm, however, after his record setting Int-TD performance last year, he really needs to show me something.......What do you see in Feeley, were you impressed with his Oregon duck days? I just don't see a leader or good decision maker. What am I missing?

I've been predicting for awhile that Gus would ultimately be named starter. However, with Ronnie Brown apparently on his way to camp, I would like to see what both guys do with an actual running threat. It's not like Frerotte looks like St. Dan compared to Feeley.
