If you name Gus starter now what happened to the fair, unbiased, doesnt matter he wasnt our guy competition we were preached we were going to see? All it says is that they paraded Feeley out there to appease Wayne and Feeley himself even though you can tell he doesnt feel lik ehe has gotten a fair shake so far. Just look at any of his comments and it si spelled out he feels he hasnt gotten the benefit of the playcalling and players needed to get the job done, as for Gus I am tired of his soundbites where all he does is campaign for the starting job talking about how much he needs to get all the practice with the 1st team! Its as if he has known the whole time he had the job and just wants the charade to be over!

Don't tell me its his confidence because he hsant shown anything in his 12 years to be confident abou tif anything it is conceit in his own ability or miopia regarding the lack of it!

this says it all for me!
"Feeley is the only Miami quarterback without a touchdown pass so far this preseason, and has the lowest completion percentage (50.0) and quarterback rating (42.7)."

I like what I see from Brock, but I hear that his weakness comes when he is under center. From what I remember the majority of his plays were taken out of the shotgun formation. Saban has liked this kid since trying to recruit him out of HS, does he like him enough to limit offensive formations

As far as Feeley, for me, it's not so much a numbers thing. It's more about his presence, pocket awareness, read and react, touch on his passes. He hasn't shown that he has any of those attributes. Sure he has a live arm, but he has zero touch on shorter passes. There's certain intangibles that Feeley is just not showing that he has. At least Gus has some of those atributes. He holds the count longer on blitzes to allow the OLine to make adjustments, he has a pretty good pocket awareness, can fell the pressure around him and is athletic enough to avoid the defense. I believe that he's won the battle so far and should be named starter right away. The first team needs the repititions, it's critical at this point. I don't think they should wait much longer.

Thank goodness you have nothing to do with anything since you going by skewed preseason #'s which anyoen with a "real" football mind would no that these qb's haven't shown anything except to show nothing!

On the contrary I believe they should name a starter ASAP. Delaying would only be repeating the mistakes of last year, when the QB competition dragged on unnecessarily right up until the first game of the season, when merely one half of a bad game was enough to yank Jay Fiedler in favor of AJ Feeley.

Name Frerotte now. In Gus We Trust, for Better or Worst, til Gus do us part. Listening to Gus speak, there is definitely value in getting him the bulk of starter reps sooner rather than later. The sooner that happens the sooner he and Chambers and Randy and Marty all get to feel each other out on how they want to run things. Gus has a complete understanding of that. AJ seems to lack it.

I agree with all you have said CK...

To add more reason to name Gus the starter now (IF Saban has indeed made a choice) is to see how AJ reacts to being the backup. Will he take it maturely and work hard on continual improvement, or will he get pissed and let it affect his attitude? Furthermore, considering what we have seen so far, I think the QB competition needs to move from 1st string, Gus VS AJ, to 2nd string Sage VS AJ. I am obviously no coach, and I don't proclaim to be a better judge, but to me Sage just looks better than AJ...

If Feeley is so concerned about winning this job, maybe he could pay attention to the sideline photo reviews with the coaches like our other three QB's. I wanted Feeley to work out, due to our trade investment and what appears to be a live arm, however, after his record setting Int-TD performance last year, he really needs to show me something.......What do you see in Feeley, were you impressed with his Oregon duck days? I just don't see a leader or good decision maker. What am I missing?

To me it has nothing to do with his days here in Oregon it is just that for all the fair competition stuff it hasnt been fair at all, playcalling, rb's and wr's he's had in his time in the game have been horrible along with the blitzing chicago did I just Feel like Feeley was set up to fail if they name the starter now and if I was him I would want to be cut if they have passed judgement on him already. I also think ppl thnk b/c points got on the board with gus at qb that it was him....IT WAS NOT that also is bugging me as the guy hasn't doen anything btu had Ricky get him a fg and a wr make a miracle play on a ball that wasnt to be thrown to him?

I agree with your assessment that the competition not being completely fair to this point! And it pains me to say this as I want to believe in Saban but..... I just hope he gives Feeley another shot with the 1st stringers next week before he reaches a decision!
