Mort, on sportscenter, just reported that the Phins will also consider Derrick Harvey for the first pick, in addition to Chris and Jake Long, and Vernon Gholston. He said those are the guys we will begin negotiating with. Harvey is a suprise.

I like Harvey, he has the size, speed, and athleticisim. What do you think?

HEY, I CALLED THIS LAST WEEK OR SO!!!!!!

in one of the threads, i said it would be great to see parcells roll out
a card with an absolute suprise name on it like DERRIK HARVEY or
cromarty.

it was in a thread where i was commenting on how funny it was that so
many were SO SURE about DORSEY and then CHRIS LONG and there
was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that one of these player were not going to
be the first player taken.

the talent is SO TIGHT and close in this years draft, i have said all along,
ANY of the top 10-12 players could be selected #1, but so many are hung
up on a couple names but all agree the talent is close and NO CLEAR #1.

harvey is a MONSTER pass rusher and killer athlete. i wont cry. there are
a player or two i would like better, but harvey is a great pass rusher and
you cant have enough of those.

There is no way in hell Rodgers-Cromartie will be picked #1 overall. I highly doubt Harvey goes #1 as well.

harvey isnt even in the top two best DE in the draft. i am 100% sure that he will not go #1 and i doubt he will go top 10 even

Parcells and Mort worked together on a radio show on Friday Nights for ESPN Radio this year that was basically the two of them sitting down and shooting the bull for an hour about the NFL.

I've always felt Harvey was a fringe Top 10 player, but I don't think he's a serious candidate. The Dolphins should take advantage of the situation and meet with as many players as possible ... you never know when you might cross paths with a player again in free agency or if an offer to trade down falls in your lap and suddenly Harvey becomes a serious candidate for yoru team. I wonder if Harvey is a Jimmy Sexton client, because he's Parcells' agent and they have a very close relationship. I wonder if maybe Parcells isn't just throwing Sexton's client a bone for some notoriety and publicity.

Keep in mind, however, that Parcells has shown in the past that he's not above using his relationship with Mortensen -- and the fact that everyone knows they're close -- to his (BP's) advantage. As I mentioned in a previous column, Parcells fed info to Mort about going to Atlanta when discussions were already underway with Miami.

Seriously, does anybody really care who we pick and where we pick'em? If the guy can play...who cares. If we take Harvey at #1 and turns out to be all world would you really care the touts said it was a reach b/c of his rating?
