Heartbreaker against Falcons

Wow. That was really weak. The game just ended. Miami is a messed up team. If anyone out there wants to ***** about one or two players, go ahead. Maybe it will make you feel better to blame someone? But the truth is that the Miami Dolphins, as a whole, have some serious issues about winning.

They should not have even been in that game in the 4th quarter. The Falcons did pretty much everything they wanted to do on offense all day. Miami's defense created an early turnover, and had a big 4th down & 3rd down stop at the very end of the game. Aside from those key plays, they played a very poor game on defense. But somehow, the Dolphins were in the game at the end.

They were still in the game because Miami's offense had ZERO turnovers at that point. They didn't do much on offense the whole game. But they also didn't make many mistakes. It was another barely average performance. But they did have ZERO turnovers going for them. That kept them in it.

THEN, the final drive happened. The drive to tie the game in the 4th quarter. Ronnie Brown is dominating. The Falcons defense is weak and tired. Miami is running right over them. The Dolphins get down inside the red zone and... they start passing the ball? What the hell was that? Why would you do that?

BOOM! The only turnover of the game at the worst possible moment. What a joke.

That was some horrible play calling. There was alot of bad play calling all game. How many times does an opponent have to stop a "trick play" before you stop running them? On offense, the Dolphins have FAR TOO MUCH trickery. What ever happened to simply running the ball straight at the other team?

The bottom line is that Miami is unable to BEAT teams. They cannot go out and win the game. They always end up beating themselves. Whether it is bad play calling, penalties or turnovers, Miami will find a way to screw it up. The Falcons were not anything special. They were asking to get beat today. A tougher Miami team would have beat them today. But Miami has some serious issues as a group, which includes players and coaches.

Don't waste your time singling out one specific player. Every team, even Super Bowl teams, have players that mess up sometimes. But those teams fight till the end. They always want to win. They find a way to win. They do not squander away opportunities like Miami does. It is hard to say where Miami will finish this year. I'm thinking it will be a miracle if they finish at .500. What a dissappointment.

Miami played like Miami has for the past few years. I agree. I do not see the core attitude changes happening. I question if SABAN is a tough enough coach to change the attitude of this team, if anyone like it or not. Winning is an attitude. I certainly saw the jets play with attitude do day, why can't we.

Wrong!! The old Dolphins lost games by throwing pick 6's....The Wr's and Gus are playing very poorly and that is why we are losing games up to this point.

The worst game I've seen in a long, LONG time.

This game was the most un-organized, sloppy game I've seen from the Miami Dolphins dating back to when Wanny was still coach. I love Nick Saban and his staff, but after watching today's performance both on the field and on the sidelines (calling plays), I've lost a lot of faith and respect in Saban.

For one, we could not get the passing game going WHAT SO EVER today. Our running game, however, was seemingly unstoppable and was the only reason we were in the game AT ALL. Passing at the end of the game on 3rd and 2 was possibly one of the worst calls I've ever seen watching the Dolphins.

Saban said that even HE was surprised at the call on 3rd down? He's the HEAD COACH of our football team. He should be overseeing every play, cough or sneeze that anyone related with the franchise does. How is he not helping (or choosing himself) the plays to run in such a critical point in the game?

If you guys read the gameday thread near the end, I'd say 99% of all the posters were PRAYING to GOD that we would keep running the ball because we were having so much success. One poster said he was getting scared everytime Gus dropped back to pass.

Why didn't we run? How could us FANS come up with the obvious gameplan to keep running the ball when we were having success and the so-called "professionals" couldn't?

This game was entirely winnable. Why doesn't the coaching staff have faith in Ronnie or Ricky? Both these guys are capable of getting the ball 20-25 times a game, and they only 22 between the two of them all DAY! It makes me think back to the Kansas City game when we only ran the ball 14 TIMES! Last week we concentrated on the running attack against New Orleans, gave the ball off to R&R 40 times and we dominated the game. Are our coaches really too dense to realize that the running game is our entire offense? We have NO passing attack. Our QB is pain stakingly mediocre, Chambers can't catch the ball, and for some reason McMichael has been invisible this entire season.

Honestly, I think us posters here at Finheaven could have coached this game hundreds of times better than what was put out there today.

I'm still shocked by how people are surprised we're losing. This team isn't even close to what Saban wants it to be, I thought we all knew this before the season started. I'm pissed that we lost the game...but I can't say I'm surprised.

As an announcer (I forgot who) once said...let teams get their wins on us now while they still can, because for the next few years they'll be hard to come by. :D

No he should not. He needs to let people do their jobs. That includes coordinators and coaches. He is building them too. He needs them to be responsible. Anyone who thinks they best way is for him to have a hand in everything, has never tried to run a successful team or business of this size.

He is however responsible for what happens. He hired and coached them.

It was a frustrating game to watch, but don't go overboard. How soon you seem to have forgotten last year. We were playing a very good team close today. Bad QB play, bad playcalling, but we are getting there.

How can you say that after we had 18? penalties against the Bills this year?

MicMike makes that one catch (Which he should have even though it wasn't the best throw) and we probably still lose there.

I saw them drop back, and I'm like ????? We were running the ball so well. If we're going to pass there, take a shot at the end zone.

We were running the ball so effectively. Ricky looked like the old ricky, Ronnie looked great (And he keeps getting better) and we pass on 3rd and 2? We have 2 downs to get the first, we were avereging what? 5 ypc? Burn clock, get the first. Keep running it.... sad

Every game we've lost (Except KC) we were in it, and had chances to win.

It's called Wannstedt ball and we spent the last 5 years complaining about it.

Whoa lets put this in perspective here. We lost against a team that is really better than us. And, we had the chance to come out victorious. You never call that "the worst game i've seen in a long time"

They ALL sting, all losses do. The fact that I predicted this loss, just like I predicted all of our other losses except the Bills game, does not take away from the sting I feel over this game. But in no way am I going to pretend this was the worst I've seen.

I wouldnt say its so much the recievers anymore. I watch every dolphins game. The recievers are getting open on so many plays. Gus just loves to overthrow or underthrow them. It happens week in and week out. He just cant throw the deep ball accurately enough to hit our recievers. Trust me, i see them getting wide open all the time, especially Wes. Do you know how many times I have seen him wide open on deep routes whether they are a slant or out route that gus overthrows. We NEED better play from our QB. The line is starting to get him the protection, he needs to make the play
