I think getting Phillip Rivers would make us SB contenders next year for sure.

I think PR is going to be the guy that ends up getting dealt in SD if Brees has another PB type year. This is really the only thing we need to get to put us over the top and another solid Saban draft like this year.

I think we are going to end up in the middle of the pack like usual in the draft and I wouldnt be shy in giving up my number one at that spot for him and pay his salary.

I know alot of people will say he is still unproven but I say he knows exactly how to get the ball downfield in a timely fashion and steps up in the pocket Like Marino. There is no way that SD is going to hang on to those two with all that money tied up in em.

I loved Rivers two years ago after that senior bowl and its a waste on his carreer that he sits and sits and sits. He would be a two year veteran with fresh legs and arm. He is our franchise QB in my mind. then all this AJ/Gus crap will disapear overnight.

Let's see what Drew Brees does this year as well. If he has a bad year, he probably won't be resigned, if he does well, Franchise will pay him like 9 million, and he is going to want a Long Term deal, which might be hard to give him. Remember, Rivers got 17-18 million to sign alone, that's not all in the first year, they will have cap ramifications as well with his contract.

i'd love to get phillip, but think brees is more realistic. they would take a huge cap hit with dealing rivers, i see them hanging on to him because their season this year will be sub-par to last years, w/brees starting still...IMO

I think you're f'in stupid to think a guy thats never won a regular season game could lead a below average football team to the superbowl

Mod Edit: And I think you're going to get some time off if you keep making personal attacks towards other members.

Alright, another Rivers thread.

For a player who has never & probably will never play for Miami, he gets more board time then actual players on the team.

Why is the grass always greener outside Miami?

I hope we can get Rivers too, but a lot has to happen before he can even become available. And even if we did get him next year, we still are far from contending from even the division title.

OK i am a feeley supporter but I think Rivers is a awesome talent I woudl even take him over leinert for sure as he would come cheaper and with some experience i was all for drafting bree's when we took fletcher but Bree's imo is not that good and we will see it this year and especially not good enough for us to pay him a big free agent contract!

The dream of us getting Rivers is a little bit unrealistic. Personally, I don't think he is any better than what we have on our roster. I would rather have Antonio Gates than Rivers.

Please no, I think I'd quit being a fan if we made another foolish 1st or 2nd rounder for a back up QB, especially Rivers.
