Merged: "In Quest of Past Glory"

A very good Sunday morning article. Sometimes we forget the fact that even in our worst years, the Dolphins remain in the national spotlight.

A good article indeed. The Miami Dolphins remain one of the NFL's marquee franchises. To all the media pundits, rival fans, and lemmings who believe this team has lost its place in the elite of NFL franchises, name me one marquee franchise that hasn't had to go through some sort of rebuilding/rough times in the past? This thing will get turned around.

Interesting tidbits

Since the begin of the salary cap era the Dolphins had enjoyed the 2nd fewest losing seasons (also tied with 3 other teams) to only Green Bay.

Also we have had the 5th longest absence from a conference title game in front of the likes of Browns, Cardinals, Lions and Texans.

Also in 1969 we went 3-10-1 then a playoff season and three consecutive superbowls

The way you phrased that had me really confused for a second. Technically the Cards and Lions have never been in an AFC title game and probably never will unless they somehow change conferences.
It seems like we're on the right track to get there, although it won't likely be this year at least it feels as though we're finally moving forward.

Sorry, fixed

The Dolphins still have the best winning percentage of any team in the NFL...and I believe we only have 8 or 9 losing seasons in 40+ years.

Look at teams like the Cardinals, Browns and Lions who are horrible on a regular basis. Also when we go bad, we still usually manage a 6-10 year rather than a 2-14 season. All great teams have had their periods where
things have fallen apart: The 49ers, Cowboys, Steelers, etc. have all had
some real problems. I've been waiting since the early 70's for another SB
win....I think it is our time. :)
