MERGED: Ireland hired by Seahawks

I think they hired him for scouting unknowns and developmental players.
 
Mr. Ireland who in the 2nd round should we go after?

They hired him to be a "scouting consultant", not a GM. It would be like saying the Raiders knew something the forum didn't when they hired Sparano to be an offensive line coach.

Well, no. Because offensive line coach =/= head coach.

Same as scouting consultant =/= general manager.

But I guess there are people still pining for Jeffery. I suppose there were people who wanted Rick Spielman to stick around too and made these kinds of posts when the Vikings actually hired him to be their GM. :lol:
 
For all of Ireland's faults as a GM, he has always had a good track record of finding guys who could contribute in the later rounds and in UDFA... even here (then again so do the Seahawks). It's a useful skill to have, and as long as he's not in charge or interviewing the players he should be ok
