Merged: Is it the Wright time?

if Wright was able to actually make a big contribution this year I will be amazed and feel that Miami has the best defensive line coach ever. I didn't think this kid would be ready to contribute till next year.

Plus it actually says a lot about Wright as well.

Good hopefully he can step up and be an assett for this team in the future. Hopefully he will be groomed into Kieth Traylor's replacement.

We are blessed this season with good players on our DLine so we can afford to bring Manny in when it suits the coaches and not thru injuries to other players unlike last season. Manny sounds like hes getting it done in training so im sure if and when hes ready we'll see him getting some playing time.

dude if he is able to contribute like we think he should its gonna make everyone take a step back and just look at the phins in a whole new light. Our coaches have turned the attitude of the team around 100%

I hope it is. It would be nice to see Wright be ready to play that soon, expecially since he left colledge to years early. He took a lot of grief at camp this summer,so to see him get himself together and ready to contribute is great. Manny is young, if he becomes a solid player he could be here for years. :wharf:

More the latter than the former, in my opinion, but yeah it would really be something to behold. It takes a special rookie to come out and perform right away like Daniels, Crowder, and Roth are able to do. You notice that even last year Vince Wilfork took something like 10 games before he started to make a significant contribution to the defense. If Manuel Wright can come out and make a contribution this year, I think a lot of coaches out there will be kicking themselves about letting him escape into the 5th round.

It has been a rough ride for him, but considering how rough it has been it is truly inspiring just how far he is traveling when he can make a contribution to games now and is actually in shape and not dogging it out there. Give them credit, they kept their eye on that talent.

His size would really help us when we need to spell Traylor.

BTW I think the Traylor, Carter, Schulters pick-ups were awesome, and so cheap!

I do think a lot of it is on Wright, however a good coaching staff can help him along the way and help him reach his potential quicker. A bad coaching staff could stunt his growth and even ruin his career and confidence.

The best thing for Wright is having a veteran d-line that will actually work with him and help him get better. Kevin Carter will work wonders with him. I'm looking forward to seeing him get his feet wet. Buffalo may be a good opportunity for that but he's gonna take a beating from that crowd....get ready!

Well I guess giving up a 5th round rick was well worth it. This is crazy considering this kid really didnt play much because he was sitting behind Patterson and Cody? at USC. Good to hear after his rocky start that he's playing well in practice.
