The other is Matt Leinart, for obvious reasons. I'm incredibly sorry for posting another "GET ALLEN SIGNED" thread, but I'm starting to think that this is a big problem. For the second year in a row, our front office has failed to sign our first round pick at a reasonable time. Why? Is $1mil in contract salary really worth compromising our football team?

I love Saban and Mueller to death, but this has been their one, huge downfall thus far in their Miami Dolphin careers. Is this going to continue..? Are we going to be seeing this next year, and the next? How often does a team have a hold out in two consecutive seasons? Before Saban, I can't remember a single first rounder who held out during the Shula-Johnson-Wannstedt era's.

Now Poole is apparently reinjured, with Daniels hurting as well. We need help in our secondary, and we need it now.

Why is this so hard for our staff?

I agree.

Something is wrong inside the organization when this happens to years in a row. I'm also a huge fan of Saban & Mueller, but seriously, we've got to get this done, and fast. This guy is our projected starting FS and he's never even put on the pads in the NFL yet - come on.

why I do find it dissapointing, I dont think its that big of a deal...Allen will have 4 preseason games to learn his position I think that will be fine

He will? That's a bit premature.

You can't play a preseason game if you're unsigned.

I'm sorry Allen didn't learn from Brown's mistake last year. He didn't get his $ and he lost 3-weeks of TC. Of course the time he lost hurt him during the reg-season.

It is awful when these players get bad advice from their agents.

Thats redicules let him sit out the whole year I dont even care anymore

Are there any more details yet on the dispute? First, it was that we were demanding a 6 year deal. Then I head Allen's agent said they would be willing to do a 6 year deal but want more $$$ to do it. Considering the guys above him and below him both signed 5 year deals, I think we should have just agreed to that and gotten something done a week or two ago. This is not the first time that negotiations have been held up because we were attempting to get an additional year. I seem to remember hearing the same thing for the last few years.

Dude, I think you may be overwhelming yourself with what's happening right now. Daniels has a sprained ankle and its only what the 7th day of training camp (11 sessions) we still have 34 more days left until training camp is over. Poole is knicked up a bit...but if he's not available at the start of the season, there are others capable of taking his place...if he was to be a projected nickel back starter. As for Allen, I'm glad that Saban and Mueller aren't giving in. This exemplifies what the Eagles and Patriots have been doing with their players in past situations. It seems that they are pretty adamant about what they want from Allen (vice versa). However, I think in due time Jason Allen will be signed and should be able to pick up from where he left off at. So what if he's the only one left besides Leinhart? Him and Mitch Frankel have things to work out and I'm sure those issues will be sorted out in time for him to catch up with the rest of the secondary...IMO of course...

I agree. Allen needs to sign that dotted line and get his A$$ into TC. Only thing that he is doing is hurting his chance to learn the defence and be behind everyone else.

The issue here is that Saban is much like Belicheck in the sense that no player is too important to him. This could be good or bad depending on your perspective. But really he doesn't care. We all see how we desperately need Allen, and Saban also sees this. But hedoes not portay a need for the player. Desperation is not a part of his game. He wants Allen on the field as badly as we do, but his pride and composure are more important. You crumble to one player, most will try and take advantage. Looking at the Brown situation we gave in, but a big fight was put up. The situation will be the same here. No player stands above Saban, I'd coach the same way. Just like when people thought Dillon would be a disruption in New England, Belicheck stated he had no problem putting the veteran on the bench for the rest of his career (In New England).
