I was wondering what the consensus would be on a straight up trade on Greg Ellis for Jason Taylor. Both are disgruntled right now and they both are OLB/DE hybrid worthy. They are both pro bowl rushers. Greg Ellis is disgruntled because we drafted Anthony Spencer in the first last offseason and thinks we are trying to phase him out. Spencer has looked good when he stepped onto the field. I wouldn't mind having JT mentor him for a season or two before he takes over full time. I love Greg Ellis to death but he has been doing this for the last three seasons. This would give both JT and Ellis the change of scenery they have been asking for, and each team would get a quality player. Ellis would be reunited with some former players and coaches while Taylor would be reunited with Zach Thomas. I'm curious as to what the Miami fans would feel about this trade.

ummm....why would we trade Jason for another player whose career is about to end....kind of....defeats the purpose of rebuilding uh?

not good for miami...i would rather have draft picks

greg Ellis' career isn't about to end. He just put up 12 1/2 sacks in 8 games. He is younger than JT. I don't see how this would be completely awful for Miami. Rebuilding doesn't mean having no veterans either. you ar emissing the point.

wow....someone needs a reality check...

Greg Ellis is a player who isnt even on the same level as JT in the first place.

Greg Ellis still has some injury issues, even though he has a solid year

MIA isnt going to trade Taylor,34,for a guy who isnt even considered yougn in the NFL,and JT isnt that much older than Ellis,so you need to recognize...lol

this would be a horrible trade for MIA,I cant believe tis was even thought of

No you're missing the point. While he is younger, one would argue he is still past his prime. And giving his statistics means nothing, because JT has also remained productive. He was DPOY just two years ago.

We would only deal him to help in the rebuilding process. If this was the only offer, I would rather just keep the guy. Our D has enough veterans.

Jason Taylor will be a Dolphin. Just forget this trade crap already huh? there are never trades for players straight up for one and two, JT is not being offered squat for the DPOY two years ago...so forget this crap! JT will be in camp.

MOVE ON.org:rolleyes:

The fact that you even think you know more about Ellis than a Cowboys fan indicates you need the reality check. You need to stop looking through the eyes of a fan who loves what JT has done for them and start looking at what is best for your team. There are no more injury concerns regarding Ellis whatsoever at this point. I'd like you to show me any reference or article where that is validated. Second, Ellis isn't young, but neither is JT, and Ellis has more years left than JT. How many people are knocking at Miami's door offering a high round pick? Jax and Baltimore were the only mentioned teams and baltimore fell through while Jax thinks the price is too high. Perhaps Miami needs the reality check on what they think JT is worth. Would you rather him hold out and get nothing at all? Dallas would be more than happy to have Ellis stay right where he is. How many people put up 12 1/2 sacks in 8 games? Try looking objectively instead of overvaluing JT. Not once did I say Ellis isbetter than JT, but JT has a couple of years best at most. If JT is gone, there would be a need for someone who can apply pressure in the meantime and Ellis would be that guy. You have yet to give me a logical reason why this is no good for Miami.

Parcells traded Joey Galloway for Keyshawn Johnson straight up because he was a former player of his.

I also find it astounding that I come here to have a logical football discussion and get attacked for it. I asked for Miami's opinion, and if you disagree with it, I can respect that, but that is just it; It can be done in a respectful manner.

honestly i'd do if and ONLY if there was no way to get JT back. If Jt is going to retire on us if he isnt dealt, and this is the best offer then yes.

in actuality it would probably cost Dallas, Ellis and maybe a pick or two

thats why i dont see it happening

What a crock. You come here, we disagree, and then you go on a sarcastic rant about Dolphins fans overvaluing JT.

You asked for an opinion, you got it. You didnt like it, but thats just too bad.
