I think people may be making the mistake of handing Lorenzo a back-up job. I remeber seeing Chatman play for SD and thought he may start for another team. In 2004 LT strained his groined and everyone was wondering what would happen. Jesse stepped in and had 67 carries for almost 400 yards and a great 6 yard a carry average. LT said he can't imagine a better back-up in the NFL before Chatman fell out of favor with some coach. Chatmans career average is 5.4 yards per carry and has break away speed and can break long ones while throwing a 5'8" 245 pound frame around. Talk about a sledge hammer. Cam must not have been the coach he fell out of favor with.

I think Chatman and Booker are the classic "apples and oranges". Chatman is probably the favorite to be Brown's back-up in the sense of if Brown gets injured, Chatman would be asked to carry the 20-25 touch load per game. Booker is the scatback, third down back who will come in as a change of pace. I expect Cameron to use Booker the way Belichek uses Kevin Faulk and Chatman as a fourth quarter, up the middle, grinder.

Thats what I think too. I just see people annointing Booker and starting 1,000 threads on him when he did nothing but fall on his face in college. I just like to think that if his sucking continues to this level that we have already addressed the issue before the pessimist start saying the sky is falling if Ronnie goes down"which he has every year so far" with a injury. If Chatman made SD fans be coimfortable without LT I'm sure he can do more than that if Ronnie goes down. He is a beast though and I could'nt beleive the way those articles talked about him breaking long ones and his speed at his size.

The Chatman you saw run so well in San Diego was not the one who weighed 245. That Chatman was about 215-220 and was determined to make a name for himself. The Chatman of 2005 was the one that weighed 245 and was lazy and unmotivated.

Where did you see his weight in 2004?

yea i think u are right i think we need to give Lorenzo a couple years before he can do any thing really good i also think Lorenzo need to get bigger

Every site I go to I get a differant weight. I wonder if he is 245?

I think he was 245 in 2005 when he was released by the Chargers, signed by the Dolphins and then traded to New Orleans and then released again.

His weight was one of the issues he had in San Diego. He blamed his weight gain on a lack of discipline. ``I was eating late at night, snacking for no reason, things I know not to do now.''

Thanks for your info, as always. Maybe he will come around for Cam and HH since they have ties.

BTW is his weight still 245 or do you know? NFL.com has him at 223 and espn has him at 245.

He is now around 220 as he lost a lot of weight in his year out of football. It has been said he is in great shape and is ready to make the comeback to football. However, I would not rule out Patrick Cobbs just yet. Brown is the starter, Booker the #2 and I think it will be a great fight between Chatman and Cobbs for the #3.

Thanks. I was a little worried about Booker disappointing like he did in college and started looking at our depth is why I started researching Chatman because I knew I seen him before and he caught my eye. I like our depth now that I am more informed on our backs. Thanks again I counld'nt find his present status anywhere.
