Jimmy Johnson never to coach again?
This is Dolphins related as he is our old coach.
So every year, teams approach Jimmy quietly to gauge his interest in coming back to coach. Apparently he was just offered the position of head coach and General Manager of the Houston Texans. He turned it down.
I've always thought that someday he might come back to coach. But, this is the absolute perfect offer and if he turned this down, I can't imagine him ever coming back.
Houston will probably have the #1 pick in a draft where the #1 pick holds more value than most drafts (because some teams want to trade up for Bush and others for Leinart).
Jimmy would have come in with full control and if he traded the #1 pick, he could immediately start with an absolute boat load of draft picks the way he did in Dallas. In fact he would have more draft picks (and better ones because Houston will have the 1st pick of every round) then he's ever had before. I can't even imagine how many picks he could get for the #1 especially considering he would keep trading down.
Furthermore, Houston has great weather, is by the ocean where he can fish, and best of all he would have a chance to knock off the Cowboys as the best team in Texas and really stick it to Jerry Jones.
I just can't imagine a better scenario, so if he turned this down, will he ever coach again?
