Jimmy Williams- CB Virginia Tech

What do you guys think of this guy?We should definitely draft this guy, everyone wants Cutler but he will most likely not be there for when we draft. We could get a young QB who could excell with another chance(Brooks, Harrington, McCown) in free agency or get an older QB to play for a couple years here(Favre, McNair, Collins, Culpepper) and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd who could be on the bench learning.

Best DB in the nation. Will be off the board by the time we pick.

Jimmy is a shut down corner. He will be just as likely to be drafted before we pick as Cutler could be, but on the flipside there are alot of good players and both could be there when we pick. I would be happy if he came to Miami just as long as we didn't pass on a QB worth taking mid 1st.:dolphins:

his stock believe it or not is dropping because they say he doesnt have the good speed that a corner should have they said he might be a better FS

I'm for BPA, but if any position takes a priority, why not CB? Our secondary gets burned by that Jets third stringer and just about every team it plays. We'd be lucky to get Williams.

Hands down the best CB in the nation... dude is legit, probably better than Hall was at VT

Jimmy Williams is up and down on the experts draft boards because of his ideal size and coverage ability but his lack of speed. He may be there in the first round when the Dolphins draft, but most likely will be gobbled up earlier. A corner the Dolphins may look at in the second round is Miami's Kelly Jennings. He has proven to be a shut down corner againts elite competition and is a very physical cornerback like Saban likes. He can play in run support and cover deep. As the Dolphins have proven they can find good cornerbacks in the second round and later.

he'll probably be a fs in the league and imo will be a damn good one at that, and if he is there at 15 and cutler is gone, he's well worth it, but he'll be gone.

he runs a 4.4 40... coupled with his size (6'3) and great vertical leap... he would be fine.

Especially in this defense that thrives on big physical corners...

Even if he is gunna be a FS in the NFL, we need one of those too, and I might want him as our FS over someone like Bing or Landry...

I'm still torn ... I'm a VT grad and, obviously, a huge fan. I've watched every game this year and many years prior. My assessment on Jimmy is that he is a player, no doubt, and he brings it. But, he just really didn't get tested at all this year (so far ... I would suspect that Louisville would test him since they're such a pass-happy offense). Plus, I really haven't been all that high on any CB's from VT that have been drafted. I don't believe that any have lived up to their expectations (see DeAngelo Hall, Keion Carpenter, Pierson Prieloue (sp?), Anthony Midget, Eric Green, and others). Maybe Jimmy is the exception to the rule. I certainly hope so, if we decide to go that route and draft him.

i say we try to get blackmon not in the first but anywhere (2nd) that we can the guy is a ball playa

DeAngelo Hall? He may be the best young corner in the NFL.

It'll be interesting to see how Williams tests in the short area quickness drills at the combine, cause he has straight line speed, but might lack great change of direction ability, being as big as he is.
