According to a story in this week's Sports Illustrated, Dolphins defensive end/LB Jason Taylor almost didn't have the best year of his career in which he was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year. According to Jason's wife, Katina - sister of teammate Zach Thomas - Taylor was willing to give up football in order to fix their marriage. As the Sun-Sentinel reported last year, Katina filed for divorce twice last year, claiming the marriage was irretrievably broken and asking for primary custody of their three young children. Both times, she pulled the papers back.

"It's ironic that he had his greatest season after talking about quitting just before it started,'' Katina Taylor told S.I. "He told me he was willing to give up his sport for his family, to get things straightened out. My response was that quitting football wouldn't be the answer.''

Taylor on his past marital problems: "I got my cage rattled. You work at it.'' Other than card games at the home, apparently Taylor has cut down on his nights out with the boys.

The couple have since repaired those differences.
Taylor on new Dolphins quarterback Trent Green, who is coming off a severe concussion:

"This is off the record - oh, what the hell, it's on the record: He'd better not get hit. One big hit, and he could be scrambled eggs. - Taylor said this about a week before Green was acquired from the Chiefs

I dont see where he isnt a fan of Green?:err:

He states what many have said. Usually 1 concussion leads to another...not always, but usually.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's not a fan of Green, he's just talking about Green's prior injury.

I don't see it as not liking Trent either... and he isn't blind...our o-line is capable of getting the qb killed...

No where did JT say that he wasn't a fan of Green. All he said was that he doesn't want Green to get hit again based on his prior concussion.

^^
Please JTs is a team player

JT is more a friend and fan of DC
then a hater on GReen

Misleading title. Seemed like JT was gonna retire if we got Green. I'm glad JT was able to save his marriage and have a banner season.

You are obviously a journalist. Only a journalist would bait you with such a thread introduction. And then copy sections to try to make it look like JT was going to quit because of green. I read that whole article yesterday and thought it to be very interesting.

Whoever started this thread must be single...

Do you REALLY believe he was going to quit football just because he told his wife that?

Or even worse, just because his wife SAID that he told her?

This is just like that situation with Kurt Warner & his wife.

What their wives have to say has NOTHING to do with football...

who isn't one big hit away from being damaged???

My god!

Very misleading title you made.......
How so? The article clearly states JT considered quitting to work on the marriage. Also, he didn't have the nicest quote for Green. It may be true, but that is the type of thing you don't say publicly. There is nothing wrong with the thread title if you actually read the Sun-Sentinel blog.

oh just in the worst way

he stated the obvious, not sure why he was worried about the record
