Do we have a shot at Julian Peterson?

I understand he's a restricted free agent this off-season but I don't know what the #'s say about it. I think he'd fit perfectly into our defensive scheme though if we could get him. Imagine having both he and Jason Taylor on the same Defence with all their athleticism and versatility?

That would be another robbery. But I would'nt press any charges...

if he's a restricted FA that means we have to give up something in return, and since he is a top flight player that means probably at LEAST our 1st round draft pick, and i dont see Saban doing that.
 
Apparently he hasn't been playing as well as he did before his acl injury. And considering the RFA process, we'd end up overpaying to get a guy who's already seen his best days, it'd probably end up crippling us down the line.
 
Peterson is an unrestricted free agent. san fran isnt franchising him so he can hopefully sign with us.
 
i still don't like it. it's a great linebacker draft this year - why spend money we can spend elsewhere on a free agent; i think our defense is going to be really good next year without bringing in any major free agents.
 
The only complication with bringing him here, assuming we are confident he will recover his post injury form, is dealing with his representation (Poston Brothers).

The good news is Saban and Smith are very familiar with JP having coached him at Michigan State and San Francisco respectively.
 
we could but i doubt it ...he costs way to much for our cap...
 
No one knows how much this guy wil cost but didnt he play for Saban a few years ago ? or is my mind gone .. if so then i see him being a real possibility.

We're going to have plenty of cap room to sign at least one big FA.
 
i really would like to get will demps S from the ravens, everytime i saw them play, he was good

Im with you on that. If the ravens do resign demps I wouldnt mind us taking alot at Marlon McCree from the panthers. As for Peterson, I think we have a legitimate shot at signing him. I remember reading somewhere that we are going to sign one or two big name free agents, hopefully he is one and LeCharles Bentley is the other.
