Merged: Kick the Field Goal

You Play To Win The Game

Kick the field goal. Another bad call by our coach. He might be the worst game manager I have ever seen in the pros. This game should have NEVER EVER came down to a play in the end zone to tie/win the game for Carolina. I am losing faith in our coach as far as managing a game.

I would have..

Obviously, they COULD block it and they COULD return it for a TD but honestly what are the chances of that happening? Ide say the odds are more in your favor of making the FG than them blocking it AND returning it for the TD..

If you miss, you are still in the same position you are in if you go for it and not make it.. If you make it, game over.. If they do so many things on percentages, im sure the percentage of them being able to not only block it but return it for a TD would be pretty low..

You are dead wrong. Sparano made the right call. His defense must make a play and not give up 50 yards in two plays. Blame Bell for being a complete joke in coverage yet again, just like all season.

72 yards, 39 seconds, no timeouts. Make a play. Keep it in front of you and make a play.

Read my post you play to win the game. This coach is killing me, love him during the week but game time comes and he is turning my hair gray.

Exactly...

I say pooch punt it. That would have run off like 7 or 8 seconds and pinned them in. There is no way they go 85-90 yards with 19 seconds.

The only reason not to kick the field goal is that if you miss they would get the ball from where the ball was kicked.

45 yarder isn't a gimme, I think you could make an argument either way. I have more of a problem with the D allowing them to get up the field on 2 plays. I think if the Panthers had a timeout they would have kicked it or at least pooch punted.

No. Kind of a no man's land and you can't risk it being blocked; however, I would have thrown the ball. The Panthers stacked the line and there is no way that banged up OL was going to convert.

You do exactly what Sparano did. Everyone just needs something to ***** about after a win. STFU and enjoy the win. Sparano made the right call.

You are exactly right. Sporano just said in his PC, by that time their kick team was so screwed up, they had guys playing in positions that they never have practiced all season. He feared a block or missed kick, and went to win the game right there. He made the right call. I probably would have thrown it, though, too.

Sparano at the press conference was asked. Didn't feel comfortable with all of the injuries at center and that they were out of timeouts

This is why people like you are not coaching football. Stick to Madden please.

So going for it on 4th and 3, making it would give you the win, is Sparano not playing to win the game?

Care to explain that little nugget to the rest of the board?

Risk it being blocked?

The likelihood a block can't possibly be more than the likelihood of a FAILED conversion. Especially when you RUN the ball.

Horrible decision by Sparano.
