MERGED: Knicks Consider Buying out Brown

Wow, a minimum $40 million buyout.

Hell of a return on your investment. I think we can safely and unquestionably say that Isiah Thomas has jumped the shark.

Only in pro sports can you do a questionable job, get horrible results, criticize your employees, and walk away with $50+ million less than a year into it.

Granted, a lot of it isn't Brown's fault. And you can't hate him for the contract stuff.

The only thing that could make this better is Isiah becoming the coach of this trainwreck. Oh wait, that's the rumor that isn't being confirmed or denied.

The great thing is, Knick fans would be able to spew their hatred at the man, in person, 41 nights a year. Rarely do fans get that kind of chance. Remember all the years the Jets made those horrible 1st round picks?? You know, the ones ESPN shows a montage of every year?? :rofl3: Remember how Bengals fans had to suffer for nearly 15 years under the Mike Brown?? How many times were they seen in public?? Much less on a regular basis in one of the biggest spectacles in sports.

Somehow, I don't envision shades of Pat Riley.

The Heat were a Dwyane Wade rib injury (and/or a Shaq quad) away from the Finals. Riley made huge roster changes. And now the team is on the doorstep of the conference finals.

The Knicks were pretty bad last year. Isiah makes wholesale roster changes and brings in a championship coach. And the Knicks get even worse. Max contracts and traded lottery picks.

Zeke hasn't just run that team into the ground. He's pushed them off the bridge into the Hudson River, wearing cements shoes and handcuffs.

Well cant say I didnt see that one coming. Gotta love Brown. Take a bad team, make them worse, and come out with 40 mil. Not a bad deal. I sure hope noone falls for this act again. Its time for him to retire....I'm sure Dean Smith will give him an office down here so he can still pretend to be involved in basketball.

Dolan really needs to pull his head out of his ***. Fire Isaih, bring in a young energetic coach, and let the players play. They have a lot of talent on that roster, its just a matter of figuring out how to piece it all together.

IF this happens it is a move to hang Isiah.

It is probably over-turn the team (again) to get guys Brown wants. OR, keep the current group and let Isiah try and make it work.

I knew Brown wouldn't quit or get fired. The Knicks can't afford to fire him and Brown isn't walking away from that kind of money.

INSTANT RUMOR: Larry Brown to Sacramento!

.

How did Brown make them worse??? He didn't bring in any of these players!:shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno:

And he needs to retire? He helped build a monster in Detroit. Won a ring and went to 2 straight NBA Finals! Yeah, he needs to retire! :shakeno:

Just for the record I'll ruin the Knicks for about 1/10th of what Brown is going to make, you listening Isiah?

Yeah me too :sidelol:

The reason this move is going to probably happen is because Brown signed a HUGE contract. And, there is only one buyout option and that was after the 1st year.

So, if they don't jump on it now. Then no matter what they are paying Larry huge $$$$$$$$$$$$ whether they let him coach the entire contract or fire him after his 2nd season, 3rd....etc. (and he ain't gonna quit so get rid of that notion)

This is a financial move for the Knicks. Nothing more nothing less.

This has nothing to do with Brown as a coach.. He has the worst group of head cases and talent in the league.. Whats sad is that a great coach like Larry Brown will be wasting his talents with a group of overpaid wannabe superstars..

But since when have the Knicks been worried about money? This seems like a power struggle with Isiah looking to coach the great cast of overpaid stiffs he assembled because I get the impression that Brown probaly wants half of em traded in the offseason.
This move was a disaster from the start, the Knicks really look completely inept right now.

Then the Knicks are stupid. They will NOT find anyone close to the talent that Brown has. They need to give him time. Rome wasn't built in a day, He can't build a franchise such as the knicks in such little time.

Man this is disgusting. This is Isiah's what, fourth coach in 3 years. If anyone should go it should be Isiah. I'd trust Brown steering the ship over him anyday of the week. James Dolan is a joke and as soon as the Nets move to Brooklyn and become a NY team, I'm rooting for them lol!

just like the hawks all the talent just cant put together a championship team...sad :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno:

Only shot at a championship they had was with larry brown...without him there going to be bottom feeders for years to come

What I want to happen if we lose Brown is simple. I want Isiah to takeover as Coach of the team so he can crash and burn and will be booed out of the Garden for good. I doubt he has the guts to takeover (even though we all know he wants to coach again) but if he did nothing would give me more joy then watching him look like a fool trying to coach the team even LB couldn't!

He will have to take over. The Knicks aren't going to buy out Brown then go hire another coach and pay him.

Rumor is Isiah takes over as coach and he is already on payroll as GM and he won't get any extra money for being the coach.
