MERGED: La Canfora: Gruden is Ross' main target

If we were to hire Gruden, would we then go back to running a 4-3 or did Gruden just run that in TB because the D was already established?
 
I wonder if he would trade Marshall after introducing him on the top 100 players thing.
 
Not worried about offense with Gruden. What about Defensive Coordinator? We need a big time Defensive Coordinator to go along with him.
 
Two thoughts on Gruden :
Didn't he go through tons of QB's at Tampa and never developed a good one.
I did like his QB clinic show.
 
We don't have the players to run a 3/4 we should switch back IMO we are a sorry looking 3/4

He has no history of developing a young QB, but, he did turn talented guys like Rich Gannon into a superstar and Brad Johnson into a Super Bowl champion. The years after that were filled with Griese, Simms and Gradkowski. Not necessarily top talent. I think a young talented QB like Luck would do very well under his system.
 
I would be opposed to signing Chucky only because no coach has ever won SB's with different teams.

He'll probably want his brother as OC .
Got to be better than what we have now.

There is always a first time for everything.

My main concerns with Gruden are his eye for talent (or lack thereof) and his propensity to fill the roster with guys 2 steps away from the retirement home.

Seriously? That's your reasoning? In that case, I'm against drafting Luck because no QB named Luck has ever won the SB.

If you're being sarcastic (which I hope) disregard this post.
 
One thing is for sure with his hire. If we have the top pick we won't have to sweat wondering if were picking a QB or a DT......Its obvious with Chucky as our coach. I'm curious does anyone know what went wrong in tampa? With the raiders?
 
I think Gruden is the best choice for our offense. IMO we have the personnel to run west coast and he could just tweak it. I feel he could get our offense firing on all cylinders. He would need a good DC and ST coach.

I would also go for replacing Ireland. Watching the draft the last few years it didn't look like he had a real strategy with an eye to the future when picking draft picks. I like Billick as the GM - I think Billick and Gruden could work well together.
